Position Summary

The Dental Hygienist is responsible for providing preventive and therapeutic dental hygiene services while educating patients on maintaining optimal oral health. This role works closely with the dentist and clinical team to deliver exceptional patient care and support comprehensive treatment planning.

Essential Responsibilities

• Perform comprehensive periodontal assessments and document clinical findings.
• Obtain and review medical and dental histories.
• Take and interpret diagnostic radiographs.
• Perform adult and pediatric prophylaxis, scaling and root planing, periodontal maintenance, and other preventive procedures within the scope of practice.
• Administer local anesthesia and nitrous oxide (where licensed and permitted).
• Screen for oral disease, periodontal disease, and oral cancer.
• Educate patients on oral hygiene techniques, periodontal health, nutrition, and preventive care.
• Capture intraoral photos and digital scans as needed to support diagnosis and treatment planning.
• Identify treatment needs and communicate findings effectively with the dentist.
• Support clear aligner consultations and educate patients on available treatment options.
• Accurately document patient treatment and clinical notes in Eaglesoft.
• Maintain infection control and sterilization protocols in accordance with OSHA and CDC guidelines.
• Prepare and maintain treatment rooms and equipment.
• Collaborate with doctors and team members to provide an outstanding patient experience.
• Help patients understand recommended treatment and encourage continued preventive care.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited Dental Hygiene program.
• Current Dental Hygienist license in the applicable state.
• Current CPR/BLS certification.
• Local anesthesia certification (if required by state).
• Nitrous oxide certification (preferred where applicable).
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Excellent organizational and time management abilities.
• Commitment to providing compassionate, patient-centered care.
• Experience with Eaglesoft is preferred but not required.
