Customer Service Representative - Home Medical Equipment

Location: Saginaw, MI

Are you a customer-focused professional who thrives in a fast-paced environment? We are seeking a highly organized and motivated Customer Service Representative to join our growing team. This position plays a critical role in supporting patients, healthcare providers, and referral sources by coordinating home medical equipment services and ensuring an exceptional customer experience.

Position Overview

As a Customer Service Representative, you will serve as the primary point of contact for patients, physicians, and referral sources. You will assist with processing orders, verifying insurance coverage, maintaining accurate patient records, and answering questions related to equipment and billing. This role combines administrative responsibilities with direct customer support in both office and retail settings.

Schedule

• Monday through Thursday: 8:30 AM - 5:00 PM

• Friday: 8:30 AM - 4:30 PM

Key Responsibilities

• Receive and process orders via phone and fax

• Assist patients with home medical equipment and billing inquiries

• Record and maintain accurate patient information

• Verify insurance coverage and obtain required authorizations

• Process orders within the company computer system

• Secure and manage required prescriptions for medical equipment services

• Answer incoming phone calls from patients, physicians, and referral sources

• Address claim-related questions and billing concerns

• Update and maintain patient accounts and documentation

• Assist walk-in customers in a retail setting

• Build and maintain positive relationships with referral sources and healthcare partners

QualificationsRequired

• Minimum of 1 year of customer service experience

• Excellent communication and phone skills

• Strong organizational and multitasking abilities

• Accurate data entry and computer skills

• Ability to work in a structured, fast-paced environment

• Professional and customer-focused attitude

Preferred

• Associate's or Bachelor's degree

• Related healthcare, insurance, medical office, or customer service training/certification

• Experience working with Medicare, Medicaid, commercial insurance plans, or healthcare documentation

Training & Support

This position offers a highly hands-on training experience designed to set you up for success. New team members receive direct instruction, guided practice, and ongoing feedback from leadership. Training includes side-by-side coaching, task-based learning, and regular quality reviews to ensure confidence and accuracy.

While extensive support is provided during the first several months, mastery of the role develops over time as you gain experience with the various systems, processes, and insurance requirements.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Saginaw, MI.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $17.00 - $18.75/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
