*** Hiring Registered Nurse - Full-time, MedSurg/Oncology Division (Experienced RNs) All Shifts & All Units

Registered Nurse

Provides professional nursing care to patients and families in an acute clinical care environment, guided by the SMHCS nursing professional practice model and in accordance with the ANA's Standards of Professional Practice.

Salary Range: $33.50 to $52.00 (based on years of experience)

General Medical & Surgical Unit (5WT)

General Medical & Surgical is a 32 bed unit that provides care to patients with: Sepsis, Renal Failure, Pneumonia, Traumatic Brain Injury, UTI, COPD, Diabetes Cellulitis, Pre & Post Surgical, End of Life Care.

Medical Renal/Wound Care/Diabetes Unit (7WT)

Focus on patients with a primary diabetes, renal, or wound care related diagnosis. Specializing in complex wound care, peritoneal dialysis, and the management of medically stable Diabetic Ketoacidosis and Hyperglycemic Hyperosmolar Non-Ketotic Syndrome and intravenous insulin drips.

Medical 1 (10WT)

Medical 1 is a 32 bed inpatient/observation unit, serving the adult patients that are acutely ill or injured. The unit cares for patients who primarily require general medical care and treatments. The continuum of care extends from the time of admission to preparing the patient for discharge to home, extended care facility, to home with home health care, to post discharge follow-up and, in-house hospice with care directed toward "comfort measures" and end of life. Low volume procedures performed by staff include PCA pain control management, tracheostomy care, tracheal suctioning, set-up and maintenance of chest tubes, and oxygen administration including high flow and Opti-flow oxygen delivery.

Medical 2 (8WT)

Medical 2 is a 32 bed unit and was created as a new acute, inpatient unit in January of 2021 and has since created a culture of teamwork always striving for safe, quality patient care. The patient population on Medical 2 includes all adults eighteen years and older with any assortment of medical conditions, including but not limited to GI bleed, falls, altered mental status, pain, shortness of breath and any number of infections. With that, Medical 2 is an excellent place for newer nurses and techs to gain a wide variety of experiences and skill sets before pursuing a career in a specialty area or experienced staff to find their forever unit.

General Surgical & Short Stay Unit (6ET)

General Surgical is a 49 bed unit that provides care to the adult patient, focusing on care including but not limited to surgical and medical patients with urological, major/minor abdominal, Bariatric, and GYN procedures.

Orthopedics (9CYT)

Located on 9 Courtyard- a large, mostly private room, 36 bed unit and 9 Waldemere, a 32 bed unit. We provide care to adult patients with a focus on elective joint surgeries, pre and post operative fracture management, traumatic fracture management, as well as bone disorders, spine surgeries, complex infections of the bone, and a wide variety of medical and other surgical patients. Orthopedics is a fast paced and fun place to learn and grow for someone to healthcare and a great place to continue to learn and grow for experienced staff.

Require successful completion of Annual Total hip and knee joint replacement education/ programmatic requirements upon hire and then annually as outlined in the orthopedic total hip and knee education plan.

Medical 3 (4NW)

Medical 3 is a 29-bed unit and is a part of the seven-unit Medical Surgical Division. Medical 3 is a new inpatient acute care unit as of December 2022, and we are excited to build a team of professionals striving to provide excellent care to our patients and families! The patient population on Medical 3 includes all adults eighteen years and older with any assortment of medical conditions, including but not limited to: kidney disease, falls, altered mental status, pain, shortness of breath and various infections. We believe a Medical Surgical foundation enhances your critical thinking, expands on an array of skills, and broadens your knowledge base, while providing opportunities for growth in our Magnet organization.

Medical Care Unit (3NW)

Medical care unit is a 26 bed unit, provides care for patients with physical health needs and also a behavioral and/or substance use disorder. Many conditions can affect both physical and mental health, such as chronic diseases, pain, and substance use.

Med-Surg Oncology (6 OT)

Our 28 bed Oncology Medical and Surgical Inpatient Unit has a population consisting of Gynecology and Urology surgery patients, new oncology diagnosis, medical oncology treatment, end of life and palliative care.

Patients with a primary Oncology diagnosis requiring complex nursing care including but not limited to:Supportive Care Interventions, Patient Controlled Analgesia (PCA) and Epidural Management, Post-Surgical Care: Pain Control, Blood Administration, Wound Care, New Diagnosis Support, Palliative Care, and End of Life Transition.

Require Cancer Basics Course at manager discretion and by completion date agreed upon by management. Require completion of Oncology Nurse Society (ONS) Chemotherapy Certification by completion date agreed upon by management. Require Oncology Certified Nurse (OCN) Certification by completion date agreed upon by management. All certifications are required for all new hires after 2014.

Med-Surg Oncology 2 (7 OT)

Our 28 bed Oncology Medical and Surgical Inpatient Unit has a population consisting of Gastroenterology and Breast surgery patients, new oncology diagnosis, medical oncology treatment, end of life and palliative care.

Patients with a primary Oncology diagnosis requiring complex nursing care including but not limited to: Supportive Care, Interventions, Patient Controlled Analgesia (PCA) and Epidural Management, Post-Surgical Care: Pain Control, Blood Administration, Wound Care, drain management, New Diagnosis Support, Palliative Care, End of Life Transition.

Require Cancer Basics Course at manager discretion and by completion date agreed upon by management. Require completion of Oncology Nurse Society (ONS) Chemotherapy Certification by completion date agreed upon by management. Require Oncology Certified Nurse (OCN) Certification by completion date agreed upon by management. All certifications are required for all new hires after 2014.

Required Qualifications

All RN positions require graduate of an accredited school of nursing or a diploma program. For new hires after 2012, Bachelor of Science Degree in nursing (BSN) is required within specified timeframe as outlined in the New Hire BSN Agreement policy (126.045). Require basic working knowledge of commonly used computer applications.
