IT Systems Engineer

SUMMARY
Responsible for all servers, server‑side software, and infrastructure equipment. Duties include infrastructure planning, system monitoring, contingency and business continuity planning, security, performance tuning, software distribution, connectivity, and production support. Acts as a technical resource for projects of all sizes, working independently with limited direction.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Participate in a 24/7 on‑call support rotation Define pre‑defined hardware configurations Serve as an interface to application development teams for troubleshooting potential hardware problems Deploy fixes to servers and workstations in response to newly identified security or stability threats Diagnose advanced problems to reduce Mean Time to Isolation (MTTI) and Mean Time to Resolution (MTTR) Ensure business continuity by effectively managing system Recovery Time Objective (RTO) and Recovery Point Objective (RPO) Work with business continuity specialists on business impact analysis Design systems based on established RPO and RTO criteria Define, identify, and achieve regular metric goals Create and document all actions, practices, procedures, and processes Drive licensing and compliance requirement definition Confer with management to define implementation bounds and provide status reports Ensure technology implementations meet RPO, RTO, and SLA objectives Assist in creating strategic and long‑term planning based on business requirements Create database models and designs using appropriate software tools Create and document maintenance plans Implement disaster recovery and business continuity testing Design and document replication schemas Design security architectures for databases Produce system designs Analyze existing system procedures for efficiency and effectiveness Mentor team members and provide training; offer technological guidance to management staff Work with extensive latitude for initiative and independent judgment Know and understand clustering services, high availability solutions, and continuous data protection technologies Understand at least one database management system and its bundled tools Define Active Directory design, group policies, and domain maintenance Participate in the exchange of ideas within the department Organize verbal and written ideas clearly in an appropriate business style Ask questions and encourage input from team members Provide regular updates to managers Identify creative ways to reduce cost by streamlining processes and systems, eliminating non‑value added processes, or re‑engineering processes and systems Drive continuous improvement through trend reporting, analysis, and metrics management Ensure procedures and work instructions are efficient and not redundant Offer new ideas and suggestions for improvement; implement best‑in‑field practices Demonstrate a commitment to customer service, anticipating, meeting, and exceeding expectations by solving problems quickly and effectively Confer with reporting manager on complex or unusual situations Establish new measurement systems where possible Exchange knowledge and information with other Jabil facilities to ensure best practices organization‑wide Maintain 100% adherence to all company policies and procedures (Health, Safety, and Quality) Maintain discretion and confidentiality regarding data and proprietary information, both internal and customer specific Interpret written, oral, diagram, or schedule instructions Understand and embrace the business and IT strategic direction Adhere to all safety and health rules and regulations associated with this position and as directed by supervisor Comply with and follow all procedures within the company security policyMINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor's degree and one or more advanced technical certifications (e.g., MCSE, CISSP) Minimum of 8 years of IT experience Experience in advanced performance‑tuning skills, such as calculating IOPSLANGUAGE REQUIREMENTS
Customer service skills and effective verbal and written communication Ability to follow written and verbal directions Software engineering using common programming or scripting languages is a plus Participation in a 24/7 on‑call support rotation Define security and systems hardening criteria Leverage thorough understanding of system interactions to troubleshoot and identify performance‑tuning opportunities Experience with thin‑client technologies, Terminal Services, Citrix Metaframe Hands‑on experience with backup software such as BrightStor or ARCserve Experience with antivirus programs, spam filters, and web monitoring Advanced knowledge and experience with different server operating platforms Experience with Storage Area Networks and related conceptsPHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Individual must use computer keyboards or other equipment for extended periods, sit or stand for extended periods, use close vision for reading and studying technical materials, and use computer monitor screens a great deal of the time. Physical abilities required include walking, reaching, carrying, and lifting up to 25 lbs, with occasional lifting up to 50 lbs.WORK ENVIRONMENT
The primary workstation is located in the office area, with some time spent on the manufacturing floor. Noise level ranges from low to moderate.PAY RANGE
$105,100 - $189,200. Offered rate depends on qualifications, experience, geographic location, education, external market data, and internal equity.BENEFITS
