The unit has 3 operating rooms. There are 26 staff members in total. The skill mix includes 4 RNs and 4 surgical techs during day shifts. There is no night shift staff. The patient-to-nurse ratio is 1:1. EMR used in the unit is Meditech. Typical procedures performed include CABG, valve replacement, and carotid endarterectomy. Other procedures include ECMO, angiogram, fistulagram, fistula creation, and lower extremity bypass. The unit operates in a fast-paced environment. On-call requirements average 4-5 days per month. One weekend per month is required for on-call duty.
