Structural Engineer

Skills and Experience:Yates Engineers, part of The Yates Companies, is growing in their Greenville, SC office. We are looking for highly qualified Structural Engineers with over 10 years of diversified experience who can perform engineering and design on heavy industrial projects. Requirements:Bachelor or Master of Science in Structural Engineering or related degree from an ABET accredited programPE and/or SE registration is requiredAt least 10 years of relevant experience in structural engineeringExperience in pulp and paper industry preferredKnowledgeable in the application of the International Building Code and associated standards (ASCE, AISC, ACI, etc.)Expertise with structural analysis software (e.g. STAAD, Tekla, etc.), including operating and interpreting resultsWorking knowledge of CAD software (AutoCAD and Revit)Proficient in the use of Microsoft Word, Excel and OutlookExperience with rotating and vibration analysisAnalytical thinker with strong problem-solving skillsExperience leading structural project teamsExcellent written and verbal communication skillsExperience mentoring other structural engineersEssential Job Duties:Responsible for leading structural project teams and performing all aspects of design of structural engineering assignments, working with multidiscipline project teams throughout the design and construction process to adapt structural plans as needed to budget constraints, design factors or client needs. This work will be performed under general supervision.Primary responsibilities will include, but not be limited to, the following:Utilize department design and drafting standardsUnderstand the assigned project scope, specifications, schedules and design criteriaManage project budget and scheduleCoordinate project staffing needs with departmentDevelop conceptual layouts and cost studies to determine the simplest, most efficient solutionProduce preliminary designs and material take-offs for estimatesProduce organized detail design calculations for checking by others and as a deliverable when requiredProduce efficient and cost-effective designs that meet the expectations and needs of the clientCheck calculations and documents produced by others to ensure accuracy, conformance to codes, specifications, design criteria and good engineering practiceProvide information to and assist designers as needed for the completion of engineering drawingsCoordinate with other disciplines to ensure the flow of information necessary for the scheduled completion of the projectAdvise the project team of design or scope changesAssist in developing scopes, drawings and specifications into bid packagesReview and check vendor drawings and other discipline drawings for structural inputDevelop construction specificationsReview fabrication drawings and other construction submittals for conformance to engineering drawings and specificationsDevelop engineering estimates and scope for proposalsPerform fieldwork necessary to gather field data, check tie-ins and provide construction supportMentor and provide technical guidance to less experienced engineering personnelDepartment: Engineering Location:
