Responsibilities

• Draw quality blood specimens from patients of all ages, including pediatric and geriatric populations, following established policies and procedures.
• Prepare and process specimens for laboratory testing while ensuring adherence to safety and accuracy standards.
• Verify patient demographic information and initial labels, ensuring tubes are correctly labeled in the presence of the patient post-venipuncture.
• Maintain accurate records and documentation of collections and procedures.
• Communicate clearly and compassionately with patients, explaining procedures and promoting a positive, trusting environment.
• Support a safe, professional environment and uphold confidentiality and patient privacy at all times.
• Perform collections at multiple locations, including patient service centers and in-office phlebotomy sites, as needed.
• Exercise good judgment and decision-making based on established procedures.
• Assist with other specimen collection duties and support process improvements as directed by supervisors.

Required Skills

• Strong phlebotomy skills with experience drawing blood from pediatric and geriatric patients.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while maintaining accuracy.
• Excellent customer service and communication skills.
• Detail-oriented approach with a focus on error-free work in a high-volume setting.
• Proficient keyboard and data entry skills.
• Ability to handle multiple priorities efficiently and effectively.

Additional Skills & Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent required; medical assistant or paramedic training preferred.
• Phlebotomy certification is preferred; required in California, Nevada, and Washington.
• 1-3 years of phlebotomy experience, including pediatric, geriatric, and capillary collections, is required.
• Experience working in a patient service center environment is highly preferred.
• Flexible and available to work weekends, holidays, on-call, and overtime, with reliable transportation and a valid driver's license if applicable.
• Willingness to travel and work at multiple locations as needed.
