Principal Associate, Strategic Investments Group - Co-Lending and Credit Insurance Partnerships

The Strategic Investments Group (SIG) is a unit within Capital One’s Commercial Bank that connects institutional capital to expand lending capabilities. Since 2016, SIG has helped create numerous partnership and risk‑transfer programs covering over $10 billion in assets. Summary The Co‑Lending and Credit Insurance Desk is a small, high‑impact team that supports front‑end originations and capital markets by building and scaling relationships with asset managers, insurance companies, and other syndication partners. As a Principal Associate, you will report directly to the Desk Head and work closely with senior teams and external partners to execute and grow co‑lending and credit‑insurance initiatives. Responsibilities Facilitate post‑close portfolio activity, including transaction or credit updates, incremental commitments, approvals, and partner voting. Coordinate and support the distribution or referral of balance‑sheet risk on corporate and commercial real‑estate loans for credit insurance with insurers, or for syndication and assignment to third‑party lending partners. Work with workout teams to understand restructuring situations and process insurance claims. Support and expand technology and reporting infrastructure for partnership products. Drive post‑close incremental commitment requests for corporate‑lending partnerships, coordinating with external partners to determine eligibility and hold sizes. Monitor a portfolio of loans with credit insurance for performance deterioration and potential claims, coordinating notices and votes with underwriters and brokers. Lead team coordination for referrals to external real‑estate and equipment‑finance partners. Provide surge capacity for new deal activity and increase scope with experience. Ensure due diligence materials and amendment requests are shared with partners. Verify accuracy of portfolio and pipeline data infrastructure. Assist in partner‑closing processes with legal counsel and operations, ensuring strong documentation. Drive infrastructure projects to enable continued scale of partnership programs and support ad‑hoc partner requests. Coordinate insurance claim processes. Prepare presentations for internal and external stakeholders on strategy and business updates. Balance responsibilities while maintaining a client‑first focus. Collaborate across a large organization, maintaining transaction momentum. Basic Qualifications Bachelor’s degree or equivalent military experience. At least 2 years of experience in corporate banking or insurance. Preferred Qualifications Foundational understanding of commercial lending debt markets or credit insurance markets. Experience managing or supporting capital markets, securitization, syndication, or insurance‑market executions with multiple lenders and insurers. Experience in risk analysis or portfolio management at banks, insurers, or export agencies. Proficiency with data and reporting infrastructure; SQL or Python for queries and scripting. Familiarity with Snowflake or similar business‑intelligence tools such as Amazon Quicksuite.
