Position: Middle School Paraeducator Location: McCarthy Middle School Description: Work with Middle School children, both in general education classrooms and the special education classrooms to support students academically, socially, emotionally, and/or physically. Qualifications Associate's Degree, two years of college or passing the para test. Knowledge and understanding of various disabilities. Knowledge of school classroom procedure, including preparation and maintenance of records. Knowledge of special education procedures and IEPs Provide support (accommodations & modifications) to students with academic tasks. Support students with social, communication and/or ADL skills including assisting with toileting as needed. Demonstrated aptitude or competence for assigned responsibilities at the Middle School level. Experience working with age-appropriate students in a school setting. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as may be found appropriate and acceptable by the principal, special education coordinator, and Director of Student Services. Successful candidate will have a positive attitude and must work well as a member of a team. Knowledge of school classroom procedure, including preparation and maintenance of records. Ability to build relationships with students and colleagues and provide ongoing support and direction to students. Ability to work as a team and collaborate.
