About the Role
Our firm is seeking an experienced Engagement Manager on behalf of a leading retailer recognized for its strong brand portfolio, customer-focused marketing strategies, and large-scale omnichannel presence. This role serves as a critical liaison between internal business partners and external agency partners, ensuring effective financial management, contractual compliance, operational excellence, and successful delivery of marketing initiatives.
The Engagement Manager will play a key role in driving accountability, transparency, and strategic partnership management across multiple marketing disciplines, including brand marketing, category marketing, social media, experiential marketing, store experience marketing, packaging, and brand development. Job Description
The Engagement Manager partners closely with Marketing, Finance, Legal, Procurement, and external agency leadership teams to ensure financial discipline, compliance, transparency, and strong agency performance.
Key responsibilities include:
Support the development and execution of agency engagement strategies, budgeting processes, and operational best practices.
Lead scope development efforts, including agency budgeting, fee negotiations, and retainer management.
Draft, review, negotiate, and manage statements of work, contracts, and other marketing-related agreements.
Ensure agency partners meet contractual, financial, and performance commitments while maintaining alignment with business objectives.
Monitor project scope, identify and address scope creep, and proactively resolve resource allocation or performance concerns.
Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders to ensure marketing investments are appropriately planned, tracked, and optimized.
Manage agency relationships with a focus on accountability, transparency, and continuous improvement.
Analyze budgets, forecasts, and financial performance to support informed decision-making and fiscal responsibility.
Provide recommendations on agency staffing models, fee structures, pricing approaches, and operational efficiencies.
Support marketing initiatives across brand, category, social, experiential, store experience, packaging, and brand development functions.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, Finance, Communications, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
Experience managing agency partnerships, vendor relationships, or marketing operations engagements.
Strong experience negotiating contracts, statements of work, retainers, and pricing models.
Demonstrated financial acumen with experience managing complex budgets, forecasting, and financial reporting.
Knowledge of agency operations, staffing models, resource planning, and fee structures.
Experience collaborating with cross-functional teams including Marketing, Finance, Legal, and Procurement.
Strong project management, stakeholder management, and relationship-building skills.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Word, or equivalent business productivity tools.
Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience within retail, consumer goods, e-commerce, or large consumer-facing organizations.
Background supporting large-scale integrated marketing, brand, or creative initiatives.
Experience working with procurement or sourcing processes related to agency management.
Knowledge of marketing operations, agency performance management, and governance frameworks.
Familiarity with contract lifecycle management tools and financial planning systems.
Experience leading strategic agency reviews, performance evaluations, and partnership optimization initiatives.
