Position Overview

The registered nurse provides individualized nursing care based on knowledge of basic competencies in peri-anesthesia nursing and pharmacology. This role utilizes the nursing process to care for geriatric, adult, and adolescent patients from admission through discharge.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide peri-anesthesia nursing care following established standards and protocols.
• Assess, monitor, and manage patients' airway and overall health status.
• Administer medications safely, understanding their doses, purposes, interactions, and side effects.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to ensure optimum patient care.
• Float to other campuses as needed based on patient census.

Requirements

• BLS Certification (AHA)
• Active California RN Licensure
• ACLS Certification
• PALS Certification
• Minimum 2 years of PACU RN experience in a high-acuity care hospital, including ICU experience
• Extensive experience in cardiac and catheter lab procedures preferred

Shift Details

This position includes 4x10-hour day shifts with start times between 9:00 AM and 12:30 PM, with no weekend shifts required.

• Procedural sedation administration and monitoring

• Knowledge of gag reflex and extubation techniques

Patient Care Details

• Work with a diverse patient age group including adolescents, adults, and geriatrics.
• Handle an average daily census of 40-50 patients.

Professional Development

Ongoing training and orientation will be provided, including compliance with health and safety protocols. Modules will be completed during orientation and are essential for maintaining competency in this role.
