Position Overview The Illinois Department of Corrections seeks a DOC Northern Regional Clinical Quality Specialist to provide consultation, data management, and quality advisory functions. The role includes observing correctional healthcare clinical and workflow practices, identifying performance gaps, and driving continuous process improvement. Essential Functions Act as the Northern Regional Clinical Quality Specialist. Review, evaluate, develop, and interpret IDOC, partner, and stakeholder policies and operational procedures, communicating updates to the Agency Quality Improvement Coordinator. Serve as a liaison for IDOC health care administration, staff, and physicians on regulatory, process improvement, performance monitoring, and statistical analysis matters. Participate in audit method design and instrument creation, identify opportunities for improvement, and develop action plans with the Agency Quality Improvement Coordinator and System Leadership Quality Council. Produce documents—proprietary or highly sensitive—from written copy, data analytics, or Facility Quality Council minutes. Stay current on industry standards, specifications, and regulations and incorporate them into quality processes. Perform other duties as reasonably necessary. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in health sciences or a related field. Three (3) years of progressively responsible administrative experience in quality improvement within a clinical or healthcare setting. Preferred Qualifications Registered Nurse licensure. Five (5) years of experience developing and implementing quality control procedures and processes. Certification in quality or project management (e.g., CDN, CNN, OASIS, CP, CLIA, AHIMA, GCP, CPHQ, ACRP, IHI). Conditions of Employment Requires travel and overnight stays as needed. Must pass an IDOC/IDJJ background check. Must pass a drug screen; unauthorized drug use is prohibited. Required to utilize digital technology, tools, and platforms for digital enhancement projects.
