Database Developer

SYSCOM is seeking an experienced Senior Database Developer to join a large-scale modernization initiative supporting a major public sector organization. You'll work with complex enterprise databases, data integration, ETL pipelines, and reporting solutions in a fully remote environment. This one-year consulting opportunity offers the chance to make a meaningful impact while collaborating with a highly skilled technical team. Extensions may be possible based on project needs. As a Senior Database Developer, you will: Design, develop, and maintain enterprise database solutions. Support complex data integration, migration, reporting, and performance optimization initiatives. Develop stored procedures, views, SQL scripts, and other database components supporting transactional and reporting systems. Execute large-scale data migrations, including cleansing, validation, and transformation across enterprise systems. Build data ingestion and transformation workflows across raw, staging, curated, and analytics layers. Maintain various reporting solutions using SSRS and Power BI. Design and implement logical and physical data models (ERDs) for various applications. Provide production support, including troubleshooting performance issues and on-call support. Collaborate with cross-functional teams and participate in Agile ceremonies, development activities, code reviews, and release cycles. Provide knowledge transfer. Qualifications 10+ years of experience in database development or data engineering. Expertise in SQL Server, T-SQL and performance tuning. Experience with ETL tools (SSIS), Python, or PySpark. Strong background in data modeling and data integration. Experience with reporting tools (SSRS, PowerBI). Working knowledge of DevOps tools such as Azure DevOps, GitHub, or Jenkins. Experience supporting critical applications in financial, government, or legal industries. Requirements The work is expected to be done remotely. One (1) year contract with extensions possible.
