At National Jewish Health, our Medical Assistants play an essential role in delivering compassionate, patient-centered care within a nationally recognized healthcare environment. This position supports clinical teams by ensuring efficient patient flow, providing high-quality clinical and administrative assistance, and contributing to an exceptional patient experience across specialty care areas.

We are currently hiring for the following specialty clinics:

• Neurology Clinic The Neurology Clinic provides care for patients with complex neurological conditions. In this role, the MA supports patient intake, obtains detailed histories, coordinates and performs neurodiagnostic testing, and assists with in-office procedures such as migraine Botox injections and nerve biopsies.
• Sleep Clinic The Sleep Clinic is a fast paced and high-volume clinic offering treatment for all sleep disorders, including sleep apnea and insomnia. Our Medical Assistants provide support with patient intake, diagnostic testing coordination, and education.
• Pulmonary Clinic - The Pulmonary Clinic supports patients with chronic and acute respiratory conditions in a specialized, team-based setting. You'll assist with patient intake, pulmonary testing, and coordination of care while working closely with providers dedicated to exceptional lung health.
• Cardiology Clinic The Cardiology Clinic works with patients with a wide range of heart and vascular conditions. The Cardiology MA will assist with patient care, cardiac testing coordination, and clinical workflows while working alongside a dedicated, fun, and high-performing cardiology team.
• Asthma Allergy Immunology Clinic The AAI Clinic provides care for patients with Asthma, a wide variety of allergies, and immunology disorders. Medical Assistants in this clinic assist with patient care, skin testing, and patient education. Please note the AAI Clinic schedule is a 9:00 am - 5:30 pm.

Position Summary Under the direct clinical support and supervision of a licensed professional, the Ambulatory Medical Assistant promotes efficient, high quality clinical practice by providing guidance through collaborating with the team to manage patient flow and communication, deliver safe and appropriate patient care within the scope of practice and established policies and procedures.

Essential Duties

1. Patient Intake and Documentation: Facilitate the rooming of patients and gather pertinent health information, including vital signs, medical history, current medications, and immunization status. Accurately document all information in the electronic health record (EHR).
2. Clinical Assistance: Assist healthcare providers during patient exams and procedures, ensuring that necessary supplies are available. Prepare patients for exams and administer immunizations or injections under supervision, as permitted by state regulations.
3. Specimen Collection and Lab Work: Collect, label, and prepare laboratory specimens such as blood or urine for analysis, adhering to clinic protocols and safety standards.
4. Patient Education: Provide patients with clear instructions regarding treatment plans, medication management, and follow-up care. Act as a liaison between patients and providers to relay information and coordinate care.
5. In-Basket Messaging Management: Monitor and manage in-basket messaging, including triaging, routing, and responding to messages from patients, providers, and staff to support efficient clinic workflow and communication.
6. Equipment and Room Maintenance: Maintain cleanliness and organization in exam rooms and medical equipment. Ensure proper sterilization of instruments and restocking of medical supplies as needed.
7. Administrative Support: Assist with handling referrals, managing patient records, and performing other clerical duties that contribute to the smooth functioning of the clinic.

Other Duties

1. May utilize point of care instruments, such as the ISTAT, Piccolo, glucometer, etc.
2. May perform electrocardiograms (EKGs), ENO, Spirometry or other diagnostic tests on patients as directed, processes and files patient charts, and monitors procedure activity under supervision.
3. May participate in quality assurance and improvement activities on an ongoing basis and assist with preparation for regulatory surveys
4. Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

1. Education: High school diploma or GED and graduation from a Medical Assistant program or EMT program required. -OR- Bachelor's degree in a health or science-related field such as Health Sciences, Biology, Human Biology, Kinesiology, Exercise Science, Biomedical Sciences, or Public Health.
2. Work Experience: None required. Relevant clinical, internship, externship, or patient-facing experience preferred.
3. Special Training, Certification or Licensure: CPR/BLS required.

Salary Range: $20.69 - $27.36
