Block Advisor Tax AdvisorAs a year-round Block Advisor Tax Advisor, you are a trusted advisor who helps clients navigate complex tax and business services situations with confidence. You'll use your expertise to prepare accurate returns, uncover savings opportunities, and build lasting client relationships — backed by industry-leading training and technology, a competitive hourly rate, and an incentive plan that rewards your impact as you build your tax expertise and serve clients. This role is in-person at a local Block Advisors office.Prepare complete, accurate tax returns for clients with diverse and complex tax situations, including individual and business returnsConduct in-depth client interviews to understand financial situations, life changes, and tax implications — then provide clear, personalized recommendationsBuild trusted, year-round client relationships by delivering empathetic, consultative service and identifying tax savings opportunities and relevant Block Advisors products and servicesProvide IRS support, tax notice assistance, and audit guidance to clients as neededCollaborate with team members, share knowledge, and contribute to a positive, client-focused office environmentRequired QualificationsSuccessful completion of the H&R Block Tax Knowledge Assessment¹5+ years of experience in tax preparation, accounting, finance, or bookkeepingExperience preparing complex individual returns and business returns, including tax planning, audit support, and tax notice resolutionExperience working in a client-facing, consultative, or advisory roleStrong verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to explain tax concepts in client-friendly languageMust complete continuing education and meet all other IRS and applicable state requirementsHigh school diploma / GED / equivalentPreferred QualificationsBachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related fieldCPA or Enrolled Agent (EA), or other IRS Circular 230 credentialsFamiliarity with GoSystem or Ultratax softwareFamiliarity with AI-powered tools (e.g., Microsoft Copilot, ChatGPT)Experience in a consultative or advisory client relationship role (financial advising, insurance, or professional services)Why Work For UsAt H&R Block, our purpose is simple: to provide help and inspire confidence in our clients and communities everywhere. Local minimum wage laws apply. This information is posted pursuant to local requirements to provide applicants with information about what they might be eligible to receive. Individual pay decisions will depend on job-related factors such as experience, education, skill, performance, and geographic location where work will be performed. Successful candidates may be able to participate in one or more incentive compensation or short-term incentive plans, which could generate additional earnings in accordance with the terms of each plan. Qualifying associates can enroll themselves and/or their eligible dependents in medical and prescription drug coverage; can participate in the H&R Block Retirement Savings Plan (401(k) Plan), the Employee Assistance Program, (virtual) fitness center programs, and the associate discount program; are automatically enrolled in Business Travel Accident Insurance; and receive Associate Tax Prep benefit.Pay Range$18.40 - $29.25/Hr.
