Diesel MechanicSioux Area Metro (SAM) is South Dakota's largest transportation provider. As a Diesel Mechanic at SAM by Via, you will perform preventative maintenance and minor repairs on buses, automotive equipment, and shop equipment. We provide excellent benefits including: Medical, Dental, and Vision coverage, 401K matching, Tools allowance, holiday pay, paid time off, and CDL sponsorship!What You'll Do:Direct highly varied and complex operations related to vehicle and equipment serviceRepair and/or replace any subsystem associated with heavy, medium, and/or light duty SAM coaches and automotive equipmentWork with other maintenance workers, drivers, and transportation supervisorsMaintain relationships with suppliers and vendorsWho You Are:Possess knowledge of the design, adjustment, operation, maintenance, and repair of systems and subsystems of SAM coaches and related shop equipmentAble to work on their feet eight hours per day, lift 100 pounds, and carry parts, equipment, and suppliesPossess excellent manual dexterityHigh school diploma or GED equivalent, including trade or vocational school. Additional training at manufacturer's schools, courses, or seminars is a plus.Hold a valid SD driver's licenseAble to obtain a CDL permitAble to pass a pre-employment physicalPass a drug screening and background check: no felonies, clean MVR, no DUI/DWI or reckless driving convictions, and no more than 2 speeding ticketsMechanic class (AA, A, B, and C) will be assessed during the interview process.Compensation and BenefitsFinal salary will be determined by the candidate's experience, knowledge, and skills.Salary Range: up to $37 per hour, depending on experience.Benefits include health, dental, and life insurance, 401K with up to 6% company match, holiday pay, vacation, tool allowance, and bonus daysVia is an equal opportunity employer.
