Job Description/Announcement

STS International, a respected veteran-owned small business systems engineering and integration firm is looking for an experienced Electrician to work along side a talented and supportive team for a government client at Fort Belvoir, VA. The ideal candidate will have industrial electrical experience and a desire to learn and work on a variety of tasks to include electrical installation, service and maintenance.


Work Schedule is 6 AM to 3 PM, Monday to Friday. Work locations across Ft. Belvoir, VA will vary among conditioned office & lab facilities, fabrication shops, unconditioned buildings, and outdoor, exposed conditions.

Position Roles and Responsibilities

• Installs, connects, tests, and sustains electrical systems for a variety of purposes, including climate control, security, and communications.
• Figures layout, installs, and repairs wiring, electrical fixtures, apparatus, and control equipment, such as switches, relays, and circuit-breaker panels, fastening in place with screws or bolts, using hand tools and power tools.
• Plans new or modified installations to minimize waste of materials, provide access for future maintenance, and avoid unsightly, hazardous, and unreliable wiring, consistent with specifications and local electrical codes.
• Prepares sketches showing location of wiring and equipment, or follows diagrams or blueprints, ensuring that concealed wiring is installed before completion of future walls, ceilings, and flooring.
• Tests continuity of circuit to ensure electrical compatibility and safety of components, using testing instruments, such as ohmmeter, battery and buzzer, and oscilloscope.
• Observes functioning of installed equipment or system to detect hazards and need for adjustments, relocation, or replacement.
• Repairs faulty equipment or systems.
• Moves furniture and ceiling panels/fixtures and repairs drywall as required.
• Assist other facilities maintenance team members in projects as required.
• Follows all safety protocol and protection measures; assists with or advises safety inspections as required.

Minimum/General Experience

• 2+ years of experience as an Electrician
• Must have an Electrician License (journeyman or equivalent)
• Must have the ability to use hand tools, power tools, ohmmeters and other testing devices to diagnose issues and verify system integrity.
• Must be able to collaborate with other trades and provide excellent customer service.
• Must be able to do lifting and movement of furniture for some occupied office work spaces.
• Be able to work independently with little supervision and as part of a team.

Minimum Education: High School Diploma

Clearance Requirement: The successful candidate must be able to obtain and retain a secret clearance. STS will sponsor clearance investigation for the successful candidate.
