Mechanical Design Engineer

Orbit Motion Systems is looking for a mechanical design engineer with experience in machine and subassembly design. The role focuses on automating manufacturing tasks in the packaging and food & beverage industries using robotic technologies and motion programming. Responsibilities Design, layout, test, and evaluate mechanical assemblies, ensuring viability before integration into final machines. Perform design, layout, and testing of sub-assemblies and platforms, supporting all engineering processes including drafting and detailed design using SolidWorks. Integrate cam movements, pneumatics, hydraulics, and other mechanisms to achieve product movements. Execute small to medium‑sized mechanical design projects from concept to completion, managing multiple projects simultaneously. Support verification and validation of new designs through testing. Qualifications BS in engineering with 5–10 years of related experience. Previous mechanical design experience is a must; portfolio of work required. Strong organizational and accountability skills with ability to manage multiple projects. Strong communication skills, both verbal and written. Technical aptitude with innovative and creative problem‑solving, troubleshooting. Required Skills Experience in a manufacturing environment and machine shop. Proficiency in 3D design and analysis software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD, Pro/E). Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint). Adaptability to rapidly changing work environments and operational situations. Bonus Skills Machining experience. Electrical knowledge.
