Cole Jr Pollution Control Plant located in Lorton, Va. a good fit. Responsibilities Assist in preventive maintenance and repairs of instrumentation and electronic equipment such as flow, level, and analytical measuring devices (doppler, transit time, magnetic, differential pressure, ultrasonic, pressure, PH, dissolved oxygen, ORP, turbidity, oxygen, total hydrocarbon analyzers). Read simple technical manuals or drawings and complete repairs from them. Work alone on the least technical instrumentation in the I&E field covering repairs, troubleshooting, and preventive maintenance. Document work completed in a computer‑based work order system and order spare parts as required. Assist in maintaining the continuous emission monitoring system on incinerator stacks. Assist in calibration and repair of sensor and alarm systems for oxygen, hydrogen sulfide, explosive gas (methane), and fire detection. The ideal candidate is detail oriented, has strong communication and interpersonal skills, and can work independently. Minimum Qualifications High school diploma or GED Completion of a vocation course in electronics or One year of experience related to installation, maintenance and repair of industrial instrumentation or electronic/electrical equipment found in water or wastewater utilities Certificates and Licenses Required Valid driver's license Confined space certification within 6 months of hire Special Requirements Complete a criminal background check, a pre‑employment physical examination, and driving record check to the satisfaction of the employer. Subject to 24‑hour call back and ability to work emergency overtime. Work in adverse weather conditions and environments generating methane gas. Ability to distinguish different color wiring. Preferred Qualifications Coursework in instrumentation/electrical/electronic technology or related field. Electrical journeyman license or ISA certificate. Experience working in an industrial wastewater environment. One year of experience troubleshooting and repairing electrical & instrumentation control systems. One year of experience in water treatment or a pump station maintenance group. Experience reading instrumentation data, interpreting schematics, circuit diagrams, and manuals related to instrumentation or electrical equipment. Physical Requirements Ability to distinguish colors. Ability to drive 1/2, 3/4‑ & 1‑ton utility truck and operate hoisting equipment. Ability to lift, carry, and handle items weighing up to 50 lbs. Ability to operate keyboard‑driven equipment and use computers. Work in adverse weather conditions and temperatures. Frequent exposure to loud noises and occasional exposure to airborne substances. Capable of climbing, crouching, bending, and working in confined spaces (restricted to individuals weighing less than 310 lbs). All duties performed with or without reasonable accommodations.
