#139484 Sleep Tech - Pulmonary Payroll Title: POLYSOMNOGRAPHY TCHNO SR Department: FACULTY PRACTICE PULMONARY Pay Scale: $38.78 - $48.21 / Hour Location: La Jolla Appointment Type: Career | Percent: 90% | Union: EX Contract | Openings: 1 | Work Schedule: Variable, 8 Hour Shifts, Variable Filing Deadline: Thu 5/14/2026 DESCRIPTION Under the direction of the Sleep Manager, Supervisor, or designated physician, the incumbent will provide comprehensive evaluation and treatment of sleep disorders. This includes conducting overnight and daytime polysomnographic studies, delivering diagnostic and therapeutic services, and supporting patient care and education. Calibrating medical equipment Applying EEG electrodes and setting up respiratory monitoring devices Administering unattended Home Sleep Tests (HST) and educating patients on procedures and expectations Analyzing and scoring polysomnographic recordings, documenting sleep stages, arousals, and respiratory events in accordance with established protocols Programming, downloading, and troubleshooting HST devices Assisting with PAP troubleshooting and mask fittings Supporting the operational needs of the sleep lab such as equipment maintenance, supply management, and onboarding new staff Other duties as assigned MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Successful completion of a polysomnography program, associated with a state licensed and/or a nationally accredited educational facility Medical Board of California Licensure for Polysomnographic Technologist or Respiratory Care Practitioner RPSGT, RST, or RRTSDS BART or BLS at time of hire with commitment to get BART within six (6) months of hire date One (1) year of experience working in Sleep/Pulmonary clinics Demonstrated experience performing various polysomnographic procedures Ability to score Polysomnographic results independently Experience preparing and calibrating medical equipment required for pulmonary testing to determine proper functioning and making adjustments as needed Experience documenting routine observations, including sleep stages and clinical events, changes in procedure, and other significant events in order to facilitate scoring and interpretation of polysomnographic results Experience implementing appropriate interventions, including actions necessary for patient safety and therapeutic intervention such as continuous and bi-level positive airway pressure, oxygen administration, etc PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS Four (4) years of experience working in Sleep Lab Experience working in a pulmonary, sleep center or clinic SPECIAL CONDITIONS Must be able to work various hours and locations based on business needs Employment is subject to a criminal background check and pre-employment physical PAY Annual Full Pay Range: $80,973 - $100,662 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%) Hourly Equivalent: $38.78 - $48.21 EEO STATEMENTS The University of California is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
