Senior Director, State Government Affairs

This role requires the ability to work lawfully in the U.S. without employment-based immigration sponsorship, now or in the future.The Sr Dir, Government Affairs is responsible for developing, coordinating and implementing government affairs strategies and activities that advance the company’s interests before the state legislature and regulatory agencies. The job may include representing the company before state and local governments and administrative/regulatory agencies, procurement, external affairs, and community engagement, as well as strategically planning, managing and executing other activities and events that advance the company’s overall objectives. The job requires significant legislative and regulatory experience and an extensive background in public policy and advocacy, and will have a senior level management role.Actively and consistently support all efforts to simplify and enhance the customer experience.Develop, build and expand relationships with public officials and other influential policy makers at the federal, state and local level.Manage the collaboration of the government affairs team and outside consultants to develop and grow grass roots and third-party support for the benefit of the company and its interests.Develop strategies and effectively plan and execute initiatives to grow the company’s image within the communities managed.Assist in the development and management of the company’s political contribution strategies, to the extent and as permitted under applicable law.Represent the company before external constituencies, including elected officials and other state and local government agencies, commissions and authorities and organize and represent the company at community events and other external functions.Draft, analyze, and/or present legislation, amendments, testimony, memoranda and other collateral material as necessary to perform legislative and regulatory advocacy.Serve as a principle liaison between Charter and the corresponding State Cable and Telecommunications Association and represent the company at industry forums.Manage outside counsel, consultants and lobbyists as necessary.Manage team’s response to and company resolution of escalated complaints from government authorities as may be necessary.Manage the identification of government-related state procurement and business opportunities and facilitate discussions with business and assist them in developing responses.Develop approaches to support company’s business objectives and to manage outreach and interactions with government constituencies related to our business and services.Perform other duties as requested.Required Skills/Abilities and KnowledgeAbility to read, write, speak and understand EnglishAbility to communicate orally and in writing in a clear and straightforward mannerAbility to handle multiple projects and tasksAbility to make decisions and solve problems while working under pressureAbility to analyze and interpret legislation, regulation, contracts, and legal documentsAbility to use personal computer and software applications (i.e. word processing, spreadsheet, presentations, etc.).Ability to exercise independent judgment and discretion in matters of significance and operate with integrity and within company values; maintain high standards for ethical practiceAbility to work independently, but also to collaborate effectively with colleagues, peers and other internal and external constituenciesKnowledge of cable, telecommunications and broadband products and services, and experience working with regulated industriesAdvocacy, lobbying and negotiation skillsPolitical/government relations backgroundUnderstanding of state and local governmentRequired EducationBachelor's degree or equivalent Required Related Work Experience 10 years of experience in cable or other regulated industry, government, public policy or legislateve arenas.Background in law, government or public polilcy.Preferred EducationAdvanced degree in public administration, law, or similiar field.#LI-VB1 PGA820 2026-82741 PGA820 2026 Here, our employees don’t just have jobs, they're building careers. A qualified applicant’s criminal history, if any, will be considered in a manner consistent with applicable laws, including local ordinances.The base pay for this position generally is between $138,800.00 and $246,400.00. The actual compensation offered will carefully consider a wide range of factors, including your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
