About the Practice Fish Center for Women's Health Primary Care – BWH Chestnut Hill MA – Full time / 40 Hours. The goal of the Fish Center for Women's Health in Chestnut Hill, MA, is to provide high quality, integrated clinical services and education based on leading-edge research on women's health and gender-specific care. The practice supports areas of health where the risk and prevalence of disease in women is of particular importance, and those areas in which women have been traditionally under-diagnosed, under-treated, or underserved. The Fish Center for Women's Health offers primary care and specialties, including cardiology, dermatology, endocrinology, gastroenterology, gynecology (including urogynecology), hematology, infectious diseases, mental health, neurology, nutrition, pulmonology, renal medicine, rheumatology, and sleep medicine. This position is within Primary Care. The Center is located within the BWH Health Center at Chestnut Hill, just 1 mile from the Chestnut Hill Mall. The Center offers many of the same services found on the main campus, including laboratory, radiology, and specialty care, with physicians on staff at the BWH. Summary Directs, plans, and coordinates the service activities and staffing performance of professional nursing and auxiliary nursing personnel to deliver quality patient care. May provide direct patient care. Essential Functions Ensure the development, implementation, and evaluation of staff onboarding, training, and education. Provide ongoing coaching and performance feedback for staff. Ensure a positive work environment that is safe for patients, visitors, and staff. Coordinate unit activities with other hospital departments. Develop and implement staffing plans. Perform other duties as assigned. Comply with all policies and standards. Principal Duties and Responsibilities Leadership Direct, delegate, and monitor quality of care delivered by the health care team. Function within and across interdisciplinary teams to promote coordination, mutual respect, and timely response to the patient’s health care needs. Recognize the impact of systems on health care delivery and facilitate development of workflows and pathways that ensure coordination of care across all settings. Facilitate huddles, promote and model effective, respectful communication. Utilize a critical thinking approach to problem‑solve and make decisions. Identify and evaluate operational clinical needs and resolve concerns early. Role‑model and facilitate change within the health care team to respond to emerging practice and organizational needs. Foster and implement innovative thinking to create alternative solutions. Manage all resources to support optimal care of patients seeking primary care services in the clinic, telephonically, and electronically including Gateway, telehealth, and other emerging care delivery models. Model and promote health care team building and leadership skills. Develop strong collaborative relationships across roles and departments to ensure timely access to emerging patient needs. Occasionally participate on committees or broader organizational initiatives as required. Management Provide clinical oversight and support to nursing staff and medical assistants in collaboration with the Medical Director and Practice Manager. Manage changes in nurse/MA staffing schedule and adjust resources to meet patient care and operational needs. Authorize hours worked by nursing staff and medical assistants, including overtime. Assume accountability for evaluation of performance of RNs, LPNs, and medical assistants under the delegation and direction of the nurse manager. Participate in the selection, supervision and orientation of staff. Mentor new staff and assist with orientation and staff development needs. Quality and Safety Collaborate with nursing and practice leadership in setting quality standards for nursing care and in the development of relevant policies and procedures. Analyze, synthesize, and apply data to drive optimal care delivery outcomes. Oversee TJC readiness and quality programs. Clinical Care Provide evidence‑based, clinically competent nursing care in a culturally sensitive manner. Perform all clinical tasks and responsibilities of the BWH RN as permitted by licensure, scope, and institutional policy. Perform skilled nursing tasks competently and demonstrate operational knowledge of procedures and equipment. Technology Demonstrate technological literacy in using computerized information systems. Access, evaluate, and use data and information from a wide range of resources. Effective use of computer‑based information and practice management systems for population health management, decision support, reports relative to the provision of care, continuous quality improvement and professional development. Provide input to the development of information systems that impact the provision of patient care. Facilitate and oversee staff use of health care technologies, enabling development and application of reporting data. Education Bachelor's Degree Nursing required; Master's Degree Nursing preferred. Licenses and Credentials Registered nurse in Massachusetts required. Certification required at start or within 2 years of start date; Ambulatory / ANCC certification preferred. Basic Life Support [BLS] Certificate preferred. Experience Nursing experience 2–3 years required. Nursing leadership experience 1–2 years preferred. Primary care or ambulatory experience in a clinical nursing or leadership position preferred. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Strong organizational and interpersonal skills. Excellent critical thinking and problem‑solving skills. Strong commitment to clinical excellence. Ability to remain calm in stressful situations.
