Summary Incentive (Sign‑on Bonus): $25,000 with a two‑year service period ($12,500 per year). This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP) – a student‑loan payment reimbursement program. Qualifications To qualify for this position you must meet the basic requirements as well as any additional requirements listed in the job announcement. Doctor of medicine or equivalent degree in allopathic or osteopathic medicine from a VA‑approved school. Current, full and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in a U.S. state, territory, Commonwealth or the District of Columbia. Residency training approved by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs in an accredited core specialty leading to board certification. This includes Approved ACGME or AOA residencies. One year of post‑medical‑school training (internship or transitional year) followed by two years of independent practice. Non‑U.S. residency training followed by a minimum of three years of independent practice in the U.S. Residents currently enrolled in an accredited residency program and otherwise eligible may be appointed as Physician Resident Providers (PRPs). PRPs must be fully licensed physicians, may be appointed on an intermittent basis, and will perform restricted duties under supervision. Proficiency in spoken and written English. Preferred Experience: Clinical leadership experience (3+ years), primary‑care experience (5+ years), proficiency with Microsoft Word, Acrobat, Excel, database searching, VA/Federal experience, experience in women’s health and chronic‑pain management. Duties The Section Chief – Primary Care Service will work in a team setting with physicians, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, registered nurses and support staff to accomplish patient treatment. Computer skills are essential as VALLHCS is fully computerized for note documentation, order entry and consult requests. Primary‑care duties: provide patient care approximately 60–70% of the time as assigned. Administrative duties: supervise and provide administrative support 60–80% of the time as assigned. Act as a preceptor for students and residents in the clinic as assigned by VALLHCS. Serve as the Primary‑Care Liaison to the Designated Women’s Health Program. Interpret and use performance reports, benchmark data, budget documents, staffing reports, and other data for decision‑making. Direct continuous quality improvement, focusing on timeliness and patient satisfaction. Plan, coordinate and ensure high‑quality, timely, patient‑centered care through multiple quality measurement tools. Work schedule: 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday.
