Department: Steel Erection Job Title: Steel Erection Foreman Department: Steel Erection Reports To: Project Manager FLSA Status: Non-Exempt Summary Directs activities of workers concerned with construction of buildings, warehouses, factories, structural steel towers, or other construction projects by performing the following duties. Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned. 1. Assumes responsibility of organizing, planning and prioritizing work a. Becomes familiar with supervisory personnel, job activity to be performed, hazard communication program, safety rules and regulations, and emergency action procedures. b. Maintains telephone or radio contact with supervisor to receive instructions. 2. Assumes responsibility of Inspecting equipment, Structures and/ or material a. Responsible for inspecting and insuring quality control (QCI) b. Assists in set-up and knock-down of cranes; washes and fuels upon return to the yard c. Performs daily inspection on crane, equipment and supplies such as tires, lights, brakes, gas, oil, and water. d. Assembles/disassembles boom sections according to job parameters and safe operating procedures. e. Completes defect reports for any deficiencies of welding machines, compressors, lifts etc. and returns them to supervisor. f. Completes safety sheets daily. g. Completes 2 week look-a-heads. h. Directs activities of all crewmembers including the ground man, connectors, welders, bolt up etc. i. Must be able to read drawings. j. Performs emergency roadside repairs such as changing tires, installing light bulbs, tire chains, and spark plugs. 3. Ensures that routine maintenance is performed on equipment per manufacturers recommendations. a. Has practical knowledge of Regulatory Compliance with local, state, and federal Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) and Department of Transportation (DOT) rules. b. Coordinate with the maintenance staff to perform routine maintenance and repairs. c. Assist maintenance staff when not performing other obligations d. Should manage downtime to wash, wax, and polish equipment Supervisory Responsibilities: Directly supervises Up to 10 employees in the Steel Erection Crew. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems. Qualifications: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Education and/or Experience: Fifth year college or university program certificate; or two to four years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Language Skills: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speakeffectively before groups of customers or employees of organization. Mathematical Skills: Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations. Reasoning Ability: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: Valid Driver's License, must meet CSE, Inc. MVR criteria. Other Qualifications: Must be able to travel. Work Environment The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; outside weather conditions and vibration.
