Job Title: Travel RN - Postpartum Profession: RN Specialty: Post Partum/Mom Baby Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 07:00 - 19:00 Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum 2 years of current acute care hospital Postpartum experience License: RN license Certifications: BLS, NRP Must-Have: Minimum 1 year of current acute care hospital Postpartum experience BLS and NRP certifications Description: This position is for a travel RN specializing in postpartum care. The unit has 29 beds with an additional 8 overflow beds. There are 50 staff members on the unit. During day shifts, staffing includes 1 charge nurse, 1 desk PCT, and RNs based on census. Night shift staffing follows a similar pattern. The estimated patient ratios are 3 to 4 couplets per RN. The unit is equipped with Welch Allen vitals machines, CPN monitors, and POC glucose monitoring. The electronic medical record system used is Meditech. Most candidates recruited for this role have experience as travel RNs. Experience with high-risk postpartum patients and Level 2 Nursery is preferred. Typical procedures performed on this unit include POC glucose monitoring, breastfeeding support, postpartum hemorrhage management, and hypertension assessment/management. The ideal candidate will have a positive attitude and a strong work ethic. Team players who like to stay busy and help others are preferred. The unit offers a close-knit family atmosphere among nurses and PCTs. The scheduling is flexible, and collaboration with the traveler is encouraged. The facility has a high birth rate, delivering between 400-500 babies per month.
