Senior Water/Wastewater Treatment Project Manager

Freese and Nichols is currently searching for a Water and Wastewater Treatment Engineer to serve as a Project Manager in our San Antonio, Corpus Christi, or Harlingen, TX offices. As a project manager, you’ll guide multidisciplinary teams through the planning and delivery of large, complex, and essential systems. Primary Responsibilities Lead and oversee the analysis, design, construction administration, and preparation of technical reports, plans, and specifications for various water treatment, wastewater treatment, reuse, and resource recovery facility projects. Lead and mentor a team of engineers and designers across multiple offices and disciplines. Work as a seller/doer, remaining highly client‑facing and involved in project delivery. Coordinate scope, schedule, and budget to ensure high‑quality, on‑time project delivery. Serve as primary client contact, maintaining communication, trust, and long‑term relationships. Collaborate with subject matter experts on advanced technologies such as MBR, EBPR, RO, and desalination. Support proposal development and participate in business development with existing and prospective clients. Build and maintain trusted advisor relationships with clients, internal and external stakeholders, and regulatory agencies. Manage complex, multi‑discipline treatment plant projects and teams; experience with projects in the $1M+ fee range is a plus. Demonstrate a mix of technical experience including water and wastewater process design, treatment plant civil/structural/mechanical/electrical design, process studies, and construction contract administration. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Mechanical, or Environmental Engineering or related field. Texas Professional Engineer (PE) license, or ability to obtain within 6 months. 8+ years of related water and wastewater treatment experience, emphasizing plant process evaluation, design, and construction of municipal plants. Strong written and verbal communication, presentation, and sales skills. Preferred: Master’s degree in Environmental Engineering. Preferred: 15+ years of relevant experience.
