Crisis Clinician - MCAT - WED-SAT 10AM-8:30PM

Position Overview Frontier Behavioral Health is a nonprofit organization located in Spokane that provides evidence‑based treatment to adults, youth and seniors with a wide range of behavioral health issues. The Crisis Clinician is a member of a multidisciplinary team that delivers telephonic and outreach crisis intervention and evaluation services to individuals and families, aiming to divert people from emergency departments, the criminal justice system and inpatient psychiatric treatment while maximizing community resources. Shift & Compensation Shift: Wednesday‑Saturday 10:00AM – 8:30PM (5.24% shift differential) Pay: $25.89 – $31.53 per hour, based on longevity at Frontier Behavioral Health. Responsibilities Provide initial and follow‑up phone triage, assessment, and de‑escalation services for individuals in a behavioral health crisis, including those referred to the Involuntary Treatment Act. Deliver crisis and hospital diversion services to youth, adults and families, facilitating access to crisis hospital diversion resources. Conduct 3rd‑party referrals and link victims to community stabilization and diversion services, including the Designated Crisis Responder. Complete risk assessments for suicide and homicide risk, notifying a supervisor or clinician II for immediate action when necessary. Collaborate with the Mobile Dispatch Unit to meet contract requirements, reporting high‑risk cases promptly. Perform initial and follow‑up face‑to‑face assessments for individuals at risk. Develop recovery plans and ongoing support to promote stabilization, sharing plans with a clinician II or supervisor. Refer individuals eligible for Trueblood forensic programs when appropriate. Document all safety plans and comprehensive assessments in accordance with agency policies. Maintain knowledge of community resources and access them to meet client needs. Follow up on referrals for at‑risk/high‑risk individuals to ensure stabilization or services are obtained. Build and maintain relationships with courts, attorneys, law enforcement, psychiatric facilities, other agencies and consumer groups. Participate in peer review, supervision, educational and administrative meetings as directed. Keep client records and documentation timely and confidential, complying with agency policies. Assist non‑Medicaid clients with Medicaid enrollment where appropriate. Provide case management and wrap‑around services, helping clients access basic needs such as housing, financial aid, medical services, medications and other resources. Offer coaching, advocacy, information, referral and ongoing support. Perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications Required: Bachelor’s degree in a behavioral health related field. Must submit Agency Affiliation within 30 days of hire. Preferred: Two years of experience working with psychiatrically impaired populations. Strong engagement and customer service skills, empathy and ability to remain calm during escalated situations. Knowledge of working with individuals dealing with mental health and/or substance use disorders. Understanding of all WAC and RCW requirements for Crisis and Involuntary Treatment Services. Effective communication across diverse backgrounds, trauma experiences, cultures, education levels and socio‑economic statuses. Ability to manage 10–20 active cases simultaneously. Demonstrated critical thinking, decision‑making, problem‑solving and autonomous work skills. Reliable transportation, insurance and an active driver’s license; willingness to use personal vehicle for work duties. Physical ability to drive, navigate various terrains, stairs, lift 10–20 pounds and use a computer daily. Physical & Environmental Considerations Daily travel between community locations including residences, shelters, hospitals and streets. May encounter environments that are unsanitary or non‑habitable. Required duties include driving, stair navigation and occasional lifting of up to 20 pounds.
