Veterinary Technician - Emergency - Overnight At Portland Veterinary Emergency and Specialty Care (PVESC), a multi‑specialty emergency and specialty veterinary practice located in Portland, Maine, we are looking for an experienced Veterinary Technician to work in an overnight emergency & critical care team. Schedule This is a full‑time position. Shift: Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday, 7:30 PM – 8:00 AM. Some holidays are required. Compensation Starting at $28‑36 per hour, commensurate with experience and licensure $5,000 retention bonus, available for licensed veterinary technicians for overnight position for full‑time hires Responsibilities Provide triage and stabilize incoming patients Administer IV, IM, SQ, and PO medications Assist with diagnostics such as radiographs, bloodwork, and ECGs Manage fluid therapy and anesthesia monitoring as needed Communicate effectively with doctors, teammates, and clients Maintain detailed medical records and treatment sheets Support patient admissions, discharges, and client education Assist in emergency procedures and critical care support Qualifications Licensed Veterinary Technician (LVT/CVT/RVT) or experienced Veterinary Assistant Strong organizational and client communication skills Comfortable with advanced diagnostics, imaging, and anesthetic monitoring Tech‑savvy and able to learn veterinary software systems Collaborative, compassionate approach to specialty patient care Ability to work in a fast‑paced, team‑driven environment Benefits Medical, dental, and vision insurance Life insurance, long‑term disability, and more Paid time off, paid volunteer hours, and holiday pay 401(k) with employer match Uniform allowance and personal pet discount Paid continuing education and professional development opportunities We are committed to a supportive and rewarding workplace, and we would love to hear from a veterinary technician ready to expand skills and grow in a specialty practice.
