Responsibilities As Sheet Metal Technician, each day will bring new experiences and opportunities for growth. You will need to have a basic to advanced knowledge of turbine aircraft structures, reading blueprints, working from drawings, fastening systems, procedures and techniques. You may also be required to help supervise crews and assist in organizing manpower and setting priorities for involved projects. Essential Functions Perform basic sheet metal operations such as drilling, riveting, cutting on airframe and associated components. Application and removal of sealant, sound deadening and finish materials. Maintenance, cleaning and repair of shop facilities, equipment and tooling when required. Basic computer skills to navigate electronic training, manuals, and maintenance databases. Effectively and clearly communicate (i.e., speak, write, read) in English. Any other job‑related duties assigned by supervisor or management. Education & Certifications High school diploma or equivalent. Airframe and Powerplant License preferred. Valid driver’s license approved for airline travel and/or a valid passport ideal, but not mandatory. Experience Prior experience working with sheet metal preferred. Skills & Attributes Team player, self‑motivated, able to perform in a fast‑paced environment with deadlines. Attend work every day as scheduled, including overtime and weekend assignments. Notify supervisor in advance if unable to work. Reliable transportation to get to work each day. Perform all work in accordance with Federal Aviation Administration guidelines. Follow all company and safety rules during performance of duties. Maintain customer‑oriented work habits. Physical Requirements Lifts 50 lbs. Routine walking, bending and squatting, or sitting. Routine or repetitive physical motion with arms and hands. Climb ladders and stairs, work in small, restricted areas. Standing for long periods of time. Mental Requirements Understanding and implementation of regulations and guidelines. Troubleshoot or evaluate system operation. Work with others in a professional manner. Supervision Work under supervision of assigned Team Leader. May be directed to supervise other technicians in some capacity. Working Conditions Work is performed in a hangar environment subject to extreme temperature variations from very cold to very hot. Work outside during aircraft runs will occur. Varied positions in and around the aircraft. Equipment Used Personal hand tools supplied by the mechanic. Pneumatic, hydraulic, and electrical equipment. Jacks, stands, lifts, and other support devices. Tugs, power carts, and other engine‑powered equipment. Compensation & Benefits The hourly rate for this position generally ranges between $22 and $34. Actual hourly rate will vary and may be above or below the range based on various factors including but not limited to location, experience and performance. Additional compensation in the form of a shift differential will be provided if the employee is assigned to an alternate shift. The range listed is just one component of the total compensation package. Other forms of compensation include a semi‑annual discretionary bonus, 401k company match and employer contribution to a Health Savings Account (HSA).
