Claims Litigation Manager Multi-Line Commercial - Homewood, IL Insurance Claims Manager VP Vice President AVP Director Property & Casualty Commercial Lines Litigation _ . Manage Claims Litigation unit staff in the investigation of complex commercial lines claims and coverage problems. Develop basic objectives, procedures, and operations for unit; analyze results relative to established guidelines; and take action to improve performance, productivity, and cost effectiveness. Lead divisional planning and forecasting for training, staffing, and applying new technologies to meet future business needs. Supervise Litigation unit personnel, including hiring, counseling, salary and performance reviews, terminations, and resolving disputes. Review incoming transfers and assign or delegate to appropriate personnel. Plan, direct and control activities of Litigation unit in accordance with established claim practices and procedures. Review files with complex coverage issues, referring files to legal or granting coverage when applicable. Settle claims in excess of staff authority level or guide staff in such settlements. Conduct periodic reviews of claims reserves, coverage investigations, and settlement practices. Ensure overall effectiveness of unit including good rapport between company, agents, and insureds. Communicate with executive team regarding conditions, developments, trends, and progress affecting unit and company.
