Allergy/Immunology Physician

Emory University

Emory University Faculty Position

The Division of Allergy/Immunology of Children's Healthcare of Atlanta and the Emory University Department of Pediatrics invite applications for a faculty position at the Assistant or Associate Professor level.

The Food Allergy Program is among the nation's leading programs dedicated to the evaluation, diagnosis, study, and treatment of food allergies and related disorders, including atopic dermatitis, asthma, environmental allergy, eosinophilic gastrointestinal diseases, immune dysregulation/inborn errors of immunity, and psychosocial impact of chronic illness. The program integrates expertise from allergy/immunology, clinical informatics, clinical research, dermatology, gastroenterology, multidisciplinary feeding team, Strong4Life, hematology/oncology, and psychology in a model of compassionate, coordinated care.

We seek a clinician with a fellowship training and board certification or eligibility in Allergy/Immunology, who is passionate about advancing care for infants, children, and young adults with allergic and immunologic disorders, especially food allergy. Candidates with a background in pediatrics or medicine-pediatrics are preferred, though internal medicine-trained candidates will be considered.

The successful candidate will join a vibrant and growing interdisciplinary team with established collaborations across clinical divisions at Children's Healthcare of Atlanta. This is a clinical faculty position, and research commitment is flexible depending on the candidate's experience and interests. Academic rank and track will be commensurate with experience and qualifications.

Program highlights include:

  • One of the busiest referral allergy programs in the Southeast, with over 5,000 ambulatory visits completed each year.
  • Robust food allergy, asthma, and dermatology clinical research program at the Center for Advanced Pediatrics, which has enrolled over 125 diverse participants from 71 ZIP codes in Georgia, Florida, and South Carolina in 20 clinical trials to date.
  • Recent system approval of a new high-impact program to scale community-based food allergy prevention and treatment services to infants at risk of food allergy (launching in 2027).
  • Active participation in national allergy research networks, with recognition as a center of excellence in allergy and anaphylaxis research from Food Allergy Research and Education (FARE) and GA2
  • Comprehensive evaluation and management of patients with food allergy and related conditions; state of the art internal diagnostic and treatment programs offer ready access to oral food challenges, oral immunotherapy, and omalizumab therapy and are positioned to rapidly translate future research advances.
  • Nationally competitive fellowship program.
  • Robust clinical informatics platforms with dedicated support within the Division.
  • Established collaborations with multiple subspecialties across Children's and Emory.

Responsibilities include:

  • Provide outpatient care for infants, children, and young adults with allergic and immunologic problems ranging from simple allergic rhinitis to complex inborn errors of immunity across a growing network of outpatient clinical allergy sites Center for Advanced Pediatrics, Hughes Spalding, Satellite Boulevard, Forsyth, and/or additional sites to be added.
  • Share inpatient call coverage with other faculty at Arthur M. Blank and Scottish Rite Hospitals.
  • Mentor trainees and contribute to medical education at the fellowship and residency levels.
  • Participate in developing and refining protocols, educational materials, and effective models of care for screening, evaluation and management of infants and children with or at risk of food allergy.
  • Participate in program outreach activities such as community engagement and education.
  • Participate in investigator-initiated and multi-center clinical trials as appropriate.
  • Program leadership opportunities may be available for qualified candidates.

Qualifications include:

  • MD, or DO
  • Board-certified or board-eligible in Allergy/Immunology
  • Eligible for medical licensure in the state of Georgia
  • Demonstrated excellence in clinical care, teaching, and/or research

Preferred (but not required) qualifications include:

  • Experience (6-12 months) in the clinical care of infant patients with early life manifestations of allergic disorders (e.g., through rotations, electives, or early career work).
  • Engagement in research or scholarly work related to food allergy prevention, infant allergy diagnosis or treatment, and/or epidemiology/public health during fellowship or early career training, as demonstrated by abstract/poster presentations, original scientific publications, trainings/certifications, and/or prior research funding in this area.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a collaborative, multidisciplinary environment.
  • Strong interest in developing a long-term career in academic pediatrics, with openness to mentorship and growth opportunities.
