Salary: $40-$43 per hour (possible health stipend depending on hourly pay) family is willing to increase pay depending on skills and personality fit

About the Family

Warm, active family in Newtown seeking an experienced Family Assistant to care for three independent tweens-12-year-old twin boys and a 13-year-old daughter-and help keep the household running smoothly. The family also has one large, very sweet dog.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone who genuinely enjoys working with older children , is highly organized, and can learn a family's preferences, routines, and systems and run with them independently .
Responsibilities

• Care for and drive children to and from school, activities, appointments, and camps
• Help children stay organized and oversee homework and daily routines
• Manage the family's busy calendar and day-to-day logistics
• Handle family laundry, clothing organization, and light household tidying
• Grocery shop and run household errands
• Prepare family meals as needed
• Walk and care for the family's large dog and occasionally take him to grooming
• Keep the kitchen, pantry, refrigerator, and common areas organized
• Receive packages, coordinate with vendors, and meet contractors when needed
• Assist with gifts, events, and other household projects
• Be flexible with occasional evenings and overnight stays

Ideal Candidate

• Experienced working with tweens/teens and genuinely enjoys older children
• Very organized, proactive, and detail-oriented
• Able to quickly learn a family's preferences, routines, and way of doing things and take ownership without needing constant direction
• Confident driver with a clean driving record
• Comfortable and experienced walking a large dog
• Dependable, flexible, warm, and professional
• Comfortable balancing childcare, household management, errands, and changing schedules
• Strong references and a non-smoker
• Local to the area; relocation is not available
