About the Opportunity:

DT-Trak Consulting, Inc. is seeking a licensed Doctor of Optometry (OD) to provide contracted optometry services at a Federal Bureau of Prisons (BOP) facility — the Federal Correctional Complex (FCC) Pollock, located in Pollock, Louisiana. This is a long-term federal contract position with a base year and up to four option years, offering exceptional income stability and a consistent, predictable schedule. Services are compensated on a per-session (hourly) basis, with a guaranteed maximum of 1,920 sessions annually. Compensation:

• $80.00–$86.00 per session (1 session = 1 hour)
• Estimated annual earnings: $153,600–$165,120 based on full schedule (1,920 sessions/year)
• Paid monthly via invoice
• 1099 independent contractor — operate through your own LLC or professional corporation
• Orientation sessions reimbursed at the standard session rate

Schedule:

• Monday–Friday, 7:30 AM – 4:00 PM
• 8 sessions per day (30-minute unpaid lunch)
• Maximum 40 sessions per week
• Federal holidays excluded
• Monthly schedule set by mutual agreement with facility COR

Duties & Responsibilities:

• Conduct comprehensive eye examinations (minimum 15–20 per day)
• Diagnose and treat ocular conditions
• Perform tonometry examinations
• Remove foreign objects from the eye
• Prescribe, fit, and adjust corrective lenses and frames
• Document all patient encounters in BOP's Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system
• Provide written reports including diagnosis, physical findings, treatment recommendations, and follow-up care
• Maintain open communication with the Clinical Director, Health Services Administrator (HSA), and Contracting Officer's Representative (COR)
• Comply with Bureau of Prisons Health Services Manual and all local institutional policies

Work Environment:

• Services performed in the Health Services Department at FCC Pollock
• All supplies and equipment furnished by the institution
• Frequent, unsupervised contact with the incarcerated population
• Professional correctional environment — business attire or black/blue scrubs required
• Contractor is not responsible for inmate management, supervision of BOP staff, or security functions

Requirements:

• Licensure & Credentials:
• Doctor of Optometry (OD) degree from an accredited institution
• Active, unrestricted optometry license (Louisiana licensure required or ability to obtain prior to start)
• Current malpractice/medical indemnification insurance
• BLS certification (or ability to obtain)
• Security & Background:
• U.S. citizenship required (DOJ/BOP facility requirement)
• Must have resided in the U.S. for 3 of the past 5 years
• Must successfully complete BOP security clearance process:
• National Crime Information Center (NCIC) check
• FBI fingerprint check (FD-258)
• Declaration of Federal Employment (OF-306)
• Credit check — favorable credit report required (pre-screening recommended before applying)
• Urinalysis (if applicable)
• Law enforcement agency checks
• Professional:
• Minimum 1–2 years of clinical optometry experience preferred
• Proficiency with electronic medical records
• Strong communication skills and professional demeanor in a structured institutional setting
• Ability to work independently without direct supervision
