Artificial Intelligence Engineer

Compensation: $130,000 - $200,000 Base + Equity Overview Our client is an AI-native startup transforming a large, underserved industry through automation and applied AI. Having already established strong market traction and secured significant venture backing, they are now looking to hire an Applied AI Engineer to join their growing team in Austin. This is a unique opportunity to work directly with customers, deploy AI solutions in production, and help shape both the product and customer experience from the ground up. Responsibilities Work directly with enterprise customers to identify operational inefficiencies and design AI-powered solutions. Build, deploy, and maintain production integrations across customer systems, APIs, and workflows. Develop AI applications and automation workflows using modern LLM technologies. Act as the technical lead during customer deployments, troubleshooting issues and driving successful outcomes. Partner closely with Product and Engineering teams, translating customer feedback into product improvements. Scope technical requirements, explain trade-offs, and guide customers through implementation decisions. Contribute to the evolution of deployment best practices and implementation playbooks. Qualifications 1-5 years of experience in software engineering, ideally in full-stack or backend environments. Strong coding ability with TypeScript and/or Python. Experience building production software and working with APIs, integrations, and modern web architectures. Hands‑on experience working with AI technologies such as LLMs, RAG systems, AI agents, or related frameworks. Comfortable working directly with customers and communicating technical concepts to non‑technical stakeholders. Thrives in fast‑paced, early‑stage environments and enjoys operating with autonomy. Demonstrated bias for action with a track record of shipping products and solving problems. Nice to Have Startup experience. Experience in fintech, insurtech, or other regulated industries. Experience with AI orchestration frameworks, CI/CD pipelines, and cloud infrastructure. Side projects, open‑source contributions, or personal AI projects. Why Join?
