Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: PCU Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Day Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum years of experience required License: Any active state RN license or compact license accepted Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIH Must-Have: Must have 1:5 patient ratio experience in PCU or stepdown nursing. Experience with ventilated patients is required. Pass an online EKG tele competency assessment prior to starting the assignment. Previous experience with Epic charting system is required. Description: This is a position on a neuroscience unit providing care for diverse patients. The nurse will care for patients with conditions such as cerebrovascular accidents, seizures, and other neuro-related issues. The patient population may include individuals requiring intermediate care. The goal is to enhance care and workload balance through team nursing, involving collaboration among RNs, LPNs, and PCTs. All nurses may participate in either team or primary nursing model based on unit needs. Floating to different units is common depending on skill set and unit census. Nurses are expected to work every other weekend and holiday. Candidates should have skills in BiPAP/CPAP management, care of ventilated patients, telemetry interpretation, and wound care. Experience with high-risk respiratory management and neuro stepdown patients is preferred. Special attention is given to isolation precautions and infection control practices. The unit fosters interdisciplinary support from physical therapy, respiratory services, and social services.
