Company Overview Fox Sports is the industry leader in live events, representing Fox Corporation's wide array of multi-platform US based sports assets. It includes the sports television arm of the FOX Network; FS1, FS2, FOX Soccer Plus, FOX Deportes; a joint-venture in the Big Ten Network; and digital properties such as FOXSports.com and the FOX Sports App. Position Freelance Ticker Copy Editor – temporary, 2-3 months, based in or near the greater Los Angeles area (remote considered). Responsibilities Newsgathering, fact-checking, headline writing, and copy editing under intense minute-by-minute deadline conditions. Monitor the sports calendar and live events so that the Ticker always presents timely news, scores, and relevant information to viewers. Ensure all content in the Ticker is well-researched, logically structured, grammatically correct, and follows the department’s editorial style. Check headlines and text before publishing for any potential legal issues, such as libelous statements or breach of copyright. Write and enable alerts for breaking news, network programming changes, and other significant sports updates. Manage and schedule promotional graphics to appear in the Ticker at designated times throughout the day and week. Requirements 2+ years of editorial experience, preferably in online or TV medium. Excellent written and verbal communication and organizational skills. Familiarity with Content Management Systems (CMS) and online publishing tools. Strong computer skills (Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook). Strong critical thinking, news judgment, decision-making, planning, detail orientation, and a sense of urgency. Proven sports knowledge, including deep understanding of sports beyond the four pro major sports leagues. Willingness to work nights, weekends, and holidays as needed (this is not negotiable). Nice to Have BS/BA in Journalism, Communications, English, or related degree. Compensation Pay rate: $25.00–$35.00 per hour for high-cost labour markets such as New York City and Los Angeles; $20.75–$29.00 per hour for all other US locations.
