Project Manager
$100k - $125kBrailsford & Dunlavey, Inc.
Are you a construction professional who can build trust, navigate complexity, and keep projects moving forward in highly visible public‑sector environments? Location: Washington, DC (Hybrid) 2-3 days on‑site per week. Opportunity At Brailsford & Dunlavey (B&D), we lead the planning, development, and management of the places that shape and strengthen communities—where people live, learn, work, and play. B&D partners with institutions, municipalities, and organizations to shape and deliver complex real estate and capital projects, providing strategic insight and end‑to‑end advisory services across the full project lifecycle. B&D recently joined forces with Project Management Advisors, bringing together two nationally recognized leaders in program management and real‑estate advisory services. Together, the combined firm offers expanded capabilities across industries and throughout the full project lifecycle—from early‑stage strategy and planning through execution and beyond. This role supports a large‑scale public‑sector capital program involving active construction projects, stakeholder coordination, consultant management, and project oversight. As a Project Manager, you will serve as a trusted advisor to the client, helping ensure projects remain aligned with budget, schedule, quality, and long‑term organizational goals. Success in this role requires someone who is proactive, collaborative, politically aware, and comfortable navigating complex environments involving multiple stakeholders, competing priorities, and high‑visibility projects. How You’ll Contribute Manage multiple capital improvement and construction projects simultaneously, serving as a key advisor to client leadership. Monitor project performance related to budget, schedule, quality, risk, and stakeholder expectations. Coordinate architects, engineers, contractors, consultants, agency representatives, and internal project teams. Lead project meetings, site visits, stakeholder engagements, and project coordination efforts. Develop and present client‑facing reports, schedules, budgets, presentations, and project documentation. Support procurement and solicitation efforts for architects, engineers, contractors, and other project partners. Review project budgets, schedules, change management activities, and consultant deliverables. Identify project risks, analyze challenges, and develop practical recommendations to support informed decision‑making. Ensure quality control across project deliverables and client communications. Support business development initiatives, proposal efforts, and thought leadership activities. Leadership Responsibilities Coordinate and direct the day‑to‑day activities of assigned project teams and external partners. Mentor and support analysts, interns, and junior team members. Foster collaboration and accountability across project stakeholders. Demonstrate ownership, sound judgment, and leadership when addressing project challenges and competing priorities. What We’re Looking For Bachelor’s degree in construction management, architecture, engineering, urban planning, real estate, finance, economics, or a related field. 5+ years of experience managing construction, capital improvement, program management, or owner’s representative projects. Experience managing multiple projects simultaneously in complex client environments. Strong understanding of construction processes, project controls, budgeting, scheduling, procurement, and consultant coordination. Excellent written, verbal, facilitation, and presentation skills. Strong analytical, organizational, and problem‑solving abilities. Ability to build relationships and communicate effectively with stakeholders at all levels. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and Outlook. Reliable transportation and ability to travel locally to project and client sites as needed. Demonstrated commitment to client service, ethical business practices, and professional growth. What Sets You Apart The strongest candidates bring experience delivering complex institutional, public‑sector, education, healthcare, municipal, housing, or community facility projects. You May Come From An owner’s representative or program management firm. A general contractor or construction management firm. An architecture or engineering practice. A school district, government agency, housing authority, or public‑sector organization. Experience working within politically complex environments, navigating multiple stakeholder groups, and balancing competing priorities is highly valued. Most importantly, you’re someone who takes initiative, builds credibility quickly, communicates with confidence, and helps clients solve problems—not just identify them. Why People Choose B&D Impactful Mission Be part of meaningful work that helps shape the places where people live, learn, work, and connect. Learning & Growth We invest in mentorship, leadership development, and continuous learning at every stage of your career. Strong Culture Entrepreneurial thinking, collaboration, intellectual curiosity, integrity, and excellence drive how we work together. Robust Benefits Comprehensive benefits include 100% company‑paid medical, dental, and prescription coverage, a targeted 7% employer‑contribution 401(k), generous PTO, and more. Target base annual salary range: $100,000-125,000. Pay scales are determined by role, level, location, and alignment with market data. Individual pay is determined through interviews and an assessment of several factors unique to each candidate, including, but not limited to, job‑related skills, relevant education, experience, certifications, candidate abilities, and pay relative to other team members.
