General Production Worker
This role supports a production crew in manufacturing concrete precast products such as pipe, barriers, manhole components, and bridge supports. You prepare and measure forms, assist with pouring concrete, and help remove finished products from forms to be moved to trucks or the yard. You also perform general shop work, especially during the winter, while working closely with experienced team members who operate overhead cranes to move large products safely.
Responsibilities
- Assist a crew of 3–5 team members with the production of concrete precast products.
- Measure out forms accurately using a tape measure to ensure correct dimensions for concrete products.
- Prepare forms for pouring, including assembling, cleaning, and setting up components as needed.
- Pour concrete into pre-made forms and monitor the process to maintain quality and consistency.
- Remove finished products from forms and prepare them to be loaded onto trucks or moved into the yard.
- Support the production of a variety of products, including concrete pipe, highway center barriers, manhole chutes, and bridge supports.
- Work on production lines for 12"–36" diameter concrete pipe, including attaching and removing rings as required.
- Use hand tools and power tools safely to perform tasks such as scraping, prying, loosening, and adjusting components.
- Perform general shop work during winter months and as needed to support ongoing production.
- Assist with pulling, pushing, and prying to remove rings and other components from concrete forms.
- Coordinate with experienced team members who operate overhead cranes to move heavy or finished products.
- Follow all safety procedures, including proper use of personal protective equipment and adherence to site safety rules.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area by removing debris, tools, and excess materials from workspaces.
- Communicate effectively with crew members and supervisors to complete daily production goals.
- Adapt to working both indoors and outdoors depending on product size and production needs.
Essential Skills
- Ability to read and use a tape measure accurately.
- Mechanical aptitude with the ability to work confidently with hand tools and power tools.
- Willingness and physical ability to work on your feet for 12–14 hours per day.
- Comfort working in a physically demanding role that involves pulling, pushing, prying, and some heavy lifting.
- Ability to work in varying elements, including indoor and outdoor conditions.
- Comfort working in a hard hat, get-dirty environment with concrete and industrial materials.
- No specific prior work experience required, but openness to learning concrete production processes.
- Ability to follow safety procedures and use required safety gear consistently.
- Reliable attendance and the ability to work long shifts as part of a production crew.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Experience operating an overhead crane is highly preferred.
- Experience in manufacturing, construction, or similar industrial environments is beneficial.
- Experience using forklifts or working around material-handling equipment is an asset.
- Familiarity with concrete, construction, and general labor tasks is advantageous.
- Comfort using a variety of hand and power tools in an industrial setting.
- Willingness to work in a team-oriented, fast-paced production environment.
- Ability to adapt to seasonal changes in work focus, including increased general shop work in winter.

Work Environment
The role is based in a concrete precast production facility where you work closely with a crew on large industrial products. The job is physically demanding, with most shifts requiring you to be on your feet for 12–14 hours per day. While there is not a large amount of manual heavy lifting, you regularly pull, push, and pry to remove rings and components, and heavier products are moved with overhead cranes operated by experienced employees. Most work takes place indoors, but some tasks occur outdoors depending on product size and production needs. The environment is industrial and can be dirty, with exposure to concrete, dust, and the elements. The dress code includes jeans and a T-shirt or similar clothing that can get dirty. You must provide your own steel-toed boots that cover the ankle and your own rain gear while on contract. The company provides a hard hat, work gloves, safety glasses, safety yellow shirts after some time on the job, and all tools and equipment required to perform your duties. The overall atmosphere is hardworking and informal, with a focus on safety, teamwork, and getting the job done efficiently.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Hawley, MN.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $25.00/hr.
