3rd shift Highway Technician Associate

Job Overview Third shift position. Starting wage $24.00 an hour plus shift differential. Do you love the outdoors no matter the weather? As a Highway Technician Associate, you’ll spend your days doing a variety of tasks to make Iowa highways and interstates safer while fulfilling our mission—Making Lives Better Through Transportation. One day might be repairing pavement, the next installing signs, or plowing snow. No two days are exactly alike! Location & Shift Location: Neola Maintenance Garage. Within five months, employees are required to reside within 45 minutes driving time from assigned work location. Shift: 10:00 PM to 6:30 AM Sunday through Friday. Hours may vary and you may be on call 24 hours during emergency conditions. Some overnight travel may be required. Key Responsibilities Mowing/cutting brush Disposing of litter and debris Repairing roadside waterways Operating snow equipment Grading/paving projects Assisting paint/bridge crews Participating in traffic control for maintenance activities Performing routine maintenance and service of DOT equipment and vehicles Using DOT technical devices and software applications Completing other duties as assigned Qualifications Graduation from high school, GED, or equivalency. A total of four years of education and/or full-time experience, where one year of high school education equals one year of full-time work in highway maintenance or equipment operation. Possess a valid Commercial Learner’s Permit upon hire; must obtain and maintain a valid Class A CDL with required endorsements within a specified period. Must be willing to obtain and maintain Herbicide Applicator certification and other certifications as required. Undergo pre‑employment drug screen and ongoing drug and alcohol testing. Undergo pre‑employment physical to verify ability to perform duties. May be required to travel, including overnight travel. Must be able to work up to 16 consecutive hours and respond to emergencies.
