Job Title: Accounting Technician Location: District Office - Jurupa Valley, CA 92509 Position Type: Full Time Salary: $25.00 - $30.39 per hour Shift: Full Time Summary Under general supervision, the Accounting Technician provides essential clerical and financial assistance to the Deputy General Manager and Management Analyst. The role requires punctuality, dependable service, and meticulous attention to detail to manage accounts payable, process bank deposits, and deliver high quality administrative support. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Financial Processing Prepare and process bank deposits. Reconcile petty cash. Process accounts payable by verifying totals, printing checks for payment. Track and maintain purchase orders. Clerical Support Sort and distribute incoming mail; prepare outgoing mail. Provide basic clerical support for supervisory and managerial staff. Copy, scan, and distribute documents. Records Management Establish and maintain files for department memos, correspondence, contracts, and agreements. Maintain accurate District records and ensure confidentiality. Sort, check, and file basic records. Office Operations Order and maintain office supplies. Answer phones professionally and direct calls. Provide customer service to the public. Perform other related work as necessary. Qualifications Must be proficient in Microsoft Excel and able to learn new software quickly. Proven track record of dependability, high attention to detail, professionalism. Ability to speak, read, and write fluently; bilingual skills a plus. Attention to detail, organizational skills, and accounting knowledge (basic bookkeeping and standard accounting principles, government accounting a plus). Education and Experience High school diploma or GED and six or more months of accounting support experience, preferably involving public contract work. Associate degree or relevant certification a plus. Hands‑on experience with spreadsheets and financial reports, competency in Microsoft Office, databases, and accounting software, data entry and word processing skills. Language Skills Read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating instructions, and procedure manuals; write routine reports and correspondence; speak effectively before groups of customers or employees. Mathematical Skills Add, subtract, multiply, divide in all units; compute rate, ratio, percent; interpret bar graphs. Reasoning Ability Apply common sense to carry out instructions in written, oral, or diagram form; handle problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations. Certificates and Licenses Valid California Driver’s License or ID Card. Proof of valid vehicular insurance (if applicable). Current First Aid/CPR certification for infants, children, and adults (must be obtained within 60 days of hire if not currently held). Physical Demands Use hands, reach, and manipulate objects; sit, stand, walk, grab, pull & push; lift up to 25 lbs.; maintain balance; visual and hearing proficiency. Work Environment Office setting with moderate noise levels; frequent contact with staff and public; detail-oriented, deadline-driven; confidentiality required. Examples of Duties Enter key data of financial transactions into database daily. Receive bills and invoices for payment; match to purchase order; print checks; mail and file/scan invoices. Provide Positive Pay information to bank after bills paid; perform daily checks for exceptions. Purchase and maintain office supplies; order at direction of Deputy General Manager. Prepare bank deposits; file and organize Park Documents. Assist in preparation of conference room for Board or Committee Meetings. Benefits Public Service Impact: Support local recreation and events.
