Our Retail Sales Associates are the face of our store, creating a welcoming, positive environment and providing exceptional customer service. They are expected to maintain product knowledge to drive sales, keep the store clean, and ensure daily operations run smoothly. Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

Customer Service & Sales

• Greet customers promptly in a positive, professional manner.
• Identify customer needs and recommend appropriate products.
• Educate customers on new arrivals, current product features, and upsell or cross-sell when appropriate.
• Keep customers informed of store sales and current promotions.
• Build customer relationships that encourage repeat business.
• Assist in resolving customer complaints and concerns professionally.

Transactions

• Accurately process sales, returns, and exchanges through the POS system in accordance with company policies.
• Maintain cash drawer accuracy and proper accountability.
• Verify customer identification for age-restricted products.
• Perform opening and closing register procedures.
• Capture customer information for loyalty programs or digital receipts.

Store Operations

• Perform daily opening and closing duties.
• Maintain a clean, organized sales floor and counter space.
• Stock incoming merchandise and ensure product displays are neat and visually appealing.
• Assist with promotional setups and takedowns as needed.
• Monitor inventory levels and assist management with accurate stock counts.

Compliance and Administrative Duties

• Adhere to all company policies, procedures, and safety guidelines.
• Strictly enforce age verification and ID checks in compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations.
• Maintain complete company and customer confidentiality.
• Keep up with product information as applicable 
• Additional responsibilities and duties may arise per management request

Qualifications

Requirements

• Must be 21 years of age or older.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to deliver excellent customer service in a fast-paced environment.
• Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
• Basic math and computer skills.
• Reliable transportation and highly dependable attendance.
• Maintain a well-groomed, professional appearance.

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous retail, customer service, sales, or cash-handling experience.
• Experience meeting sales goals or performance metrics.
• Experience operating point-of-sale (POS) systems.

Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) Performance may be evaluated on, but is not limited to, the following:

• Individual sales performance and contribution to store goals
• Units per transaction (UPT) and average ticket size
• Customer satisfaction and feedback
• Attendance and punctuality
• Compliance with company policies and age verification laws
• Accuracy of inventory counts and cash handling
• Effective use of product knowledge to upsell, cross-sell, and match products to customer needs
• Teamwork and maintenance of store cleanliness

Work Environment  

This is a highly public-facing retail role requiring frequent interaction with a wide variety of customer personalities and behaviors, as well as co-workers, management, and vendors. The store features overhead music and a fast-paced atmosphere, particularly on weekends. You will spend most of your time on the sales floor, though you may occasionally be asked to assist in a warehouse or stockroom setting.

The employee must be able to:

• Stand and walk for extended periods (often an entire shift).
• Frequently use hands and fingers to handle merchandise and operate equipment.
• Reach, bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, and climb stepladders as needed.
• Lift, carry, push, and pull merchandise and supplies weighing up to 50 pounds.
• Communicate clearly and effectively with customers, coworkers, and management.
• Operate a computer, point-of-sale (POS) system, telephone, and other store equipment.
