Site Safety & Health Officer

SSHO PositionThe SSHO will function as the primary safety authority for facility maintenance and airfield operations under a DoD contract. The SSHO's primary responsibility is to develop and enforce the Contractor's safety program, act as the OSHA Competent Person on-site, and provide subject matter expertise on 29 CFR 1910, 1926, and EM 385-1-1. The ideal candidate will have experience creating, implementing, and monitoring safety programs and training, while continuously evaluating contract activities for improvement opportunities.ResponsibilitiesProvide technical guidance and compliance objectives to managers, supervisors, and staff.Ensure compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local safety legislation.Develop policies and procedures to maintain regulatory compliance.Interface with regulatory agencies, corporate HSE, and the Project Manager.Design and deliver safety training for all project employees.Develop and implement accident investigation and recurrence prevention programs.Conduct on-site safety audits and program reviews.Manage Worker's Compensation and Federal DOT compliance programs.Ensure all policies and procedures are compliant with the El Centro Site-Specific Safety Plan.Chair quarterly safety meetings and lead the Employee Safety Council.Maintain thorough understanding of contract requirements and ensure timely compliance.Anticipate future trends in safety equipment and compliance needs.QualificationsMust be able to pass a background check.HS diploma required.Bachelor's degree in occupational safety, Industrial Hygiene or related Technical Field preferred.SSHO shall have worked on similar projects (size, scope, complexity), possess a 10-hour OSHA construction safety class or equivalent within last 3 years and have competent person training as required.Job ID: 2026-21588Work Type: On-SitePay Range: 57,000 - 98,000Benefits: Regular - The company offers a comprehensive benefits program, including medical, dental, vision, life insurance, 401(k) and a range of other voluntary benefits.
