Maintenance And Security Position At Cantata Adult Life ServicesCantata Adult Life Services, formerly known as The British Home, is a nonprofit, mission-driven community with over 100 years of experience, offering a full continuum of care on a beautiful 10-acre campus in Brookfield, Illinois. We are seeking strong, compassionate leaders to join our team and help us continue enriching the lives of older adults through exceptional care and a vibrant community.Maintenance duties include:Perform maintenance duties, as requested by the Director of Environmental Services, which may include but are not limited to: painting, light mechanical duties, transportation of supplies, carpentry, minor plumbing and electrical tasks, simple repair of equipment and cleanup etc.Security duties include:Perform campus security patrols.Protect the properties from theft, fire and accidents.Notify the Director of Environmental Services of any accidents, incidents, suspicious activities, safety and fire hazards and other security related situations.Provide security assistance to residents, employees, visitors and customers while on duty.Perform routine maintenance/general housekeeping tasks and conduct and maintain daily/weekly/monthly inspection checklists as directed by the Director of Environmental Services.Additional duties include:Notify the appropriate personnel in cases of an emergency.Cooperate with scheduling and pager system as required.Assist with special projects as requested by the Director of Environmental Services.Perform administrative functions such as completing necessary forms and reports.Create and maintain an atmosphere of warmth, personal interest, and positive emphasis, as well as a calm environment throughout the department.Attend in-services, meetings and educational training in accordance with department and Cantata's policies and procedures.Demonstrate an ability to respond to changing situations in a flexible manner.Perform tasks/duties and utilize forms in accordance with department and Cantata's policies and procedures.Knowledge/Skill/Experience:Two (2) years prior experience in painting and general building maintenance.General maintenance skills, as evidenced by education, experience or certification.Requirements:Valid Illinois Drivers License, and evidence of a good driving record.Ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action.Ability to cope with the mental and emotional stress of the position.Ability to work harmoniously within a team environment.Ability to communicate effectively verbally with a diverse group of people both inside and outside the organization.Ability to work independently with little or no supervision.Ability to deal tactfully with personnel, residents/patients, family members, visitors, government agencies/personnel and the general public.Ability to read, write, speak and understand the English language.Aptitude for detail work.Ability to relate to and work with ill, disabled, elderly, emotionally upset, and at times hostile people within the facility.
