Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Registered Nurse to float between multiple patient care units, including Progressive Care Unit (PCU), Telemetry, Overflow, Medical, Surgical, and Observation units. This position involves providing high-quality nursing care to a diverse patient population, ensuring their comfort and well-being.

Responsibilities

• Provide patient-centered care across various nursing units while adhering to established protocols and safety guidelines.
• Conduct thorough neuro assessments and manage patients receiving cardiac drips, including Cardizem, Amiodarone, and Heparin.
• Monitor and interpret cardiac rhythms, performing EKGs as necessary.
• Titrate drips per physician orders and collaborate with healthcare teams to deliver optimal patient care.
• Respond to emergency situations and utilize respiratory therapy equipment such as CPAP and high-flow oxygen.
• Float between assigned units as needed to meet patient care demands, potentially caring for different patient populations each shift.

Patient Demographics

The role will involve caring for patients with various diagnoses including:

• Stroke
• Chest Pain
• Arrhythmias
• Abdominal Pain
• Post-Surgical Patients
• Altered Mental Status
• Dehydration
• Acute Kidney Injury (AKI)
• Congestive Heart Failure (CHF)
• Gastrointestinal Hemorrhage
• Numbness
• Fever
• Sepsis
• Respiratory Failure

Qualifications

• AHA BLS, AHA ACLS, and NIHSS certifications are required.
• 1-2 years of nursing experience, with proficiency in neuro assessments and basic cardiac drip management.
• Experience administering Cardizem, Amiodarone, and Heparin drips.
• Familiarity with EPIC electronic health record system.
• Ability to read and interpret cardiac strips and pass ECG exams.
• Previous travel nursing experience is preferred.

Work Environment

This position involves working flexible schedules with anticipated ratios of:

• PCU, Observation, and Overflow: 1:4
• Medical and Surgical: 1:5 (may stretch to 1:6 rarely)

Shift requirements include evenings from 7 PM to 7 AM with an expectation to be flexible and potentially work across different units. Minimum weekend requirements are 4 shifts in a 6-week period, with holiday shifts as needed.

Orientation

New hires will receive comprehensive orientation, including 3 shifts on different units in addition to general facility orientation.

Attire

Scrubs will be navy in color.
