Job Title: Registered Nurse (RN) Profession: Nursing Specialty: Not specified Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum three (3) years of relevant nursing experience License: RN License in good standing Certifications: BLS (American Heart Association), ACLS (American Heart Association) Must-Have: ASN Description: The staff Registered Nurse (RN) is a professional caregiver who assumes responsibility for a group of patients for a designated time frame. Provides care to these patients via the utilization of the nursing process, nursing trends, technology, financial and human resources within the philosophy of the institution. Performs all responsibilities and duties required by the unit as specific to the scope of service. Implements procedures and theories related to the specific area of practice. Maintains up-to-date and accurate documentation of nursing care provided to assure the integration of information for use by the healthcare team. Completes initial assessment upon patient admission and develops an appropriate plan of care in accordance with unit standards and based on patient and family needs. Implements the plan of care, nursing interventions, and patient care procedures. Modifies the plan of care based upon continuous evaluation. Takes responsibility for patient and employee safety by reporting and/or correcting safety hazards and incidents. Communicates with others directly and privately when necessary to resolve issues. Offers constructive feedback to assist in the professional development of peers. Confers with colleagues to expand the knowledge base. Identifies personal learning needs and takes initiative to begin appropriate solutions. Fulfills all requirements of departmental competencies. Ensures good communication with patients and families by utilizing meaningful hourly rounding, bedside report, and whiteboards. Works with ventilated patients for early mobility. Collaborates with the team to ensure the best outcomes. Prepares equipment and aids in examinations and treatment of patients. Responds to life-saving situations based upon nursing standards and protocols. Monitors and adjusts specialized equipment used on patients and interprets and records electronic displays. This includes intracranial pressures, central venous pressures, and cardiac rhythms from cardiac monitors, respirators, ventilators, and oxygen pumps.
