Director of BRICK Healthy Beginnings and Maternal Health Career Pathway

Role Overview

The Director of BRICK Healthy Beginnings and Maternal Health Pathway will lead the overall strategy, implementation, performance, and growth of the Healthy Beginnings initiative and the development and expansion of the BRICK Doula Network.

The Director will oversee program design, staff performance, partner alignment, data systems, Medicaid billing readiness, and outcomes. This leader will also be responsible for building the BRICK Doula Network, including developing its operating model, recruiting and supporting doulas, establishing partnerships and referral pathways, integrating doula services into the broader Healthy Beginnings continuum, and developing a sustainable model for growth and reimbursement.

The Director will ensure that BRICK Healthy Beginnings and the Maternal Health Pathway deliver high-quality, family-centered care and produce measurable improvements in maternal, infant, and family health.

\n Key Responsibilities

Program Leadership and Strategy

• Lead the overall vision, strategy, and execution of Healthy Beginnings and Doula Network.
• Lead the strategy, design, implementation, and growth of the BRICK Maternal Health Career Pathway, creating clear pathways into careers in maternal and community health.
• Set annual goals aligned to enrollment, retention, service completion, healthy births, family engagement, doula training, and Medicaid billing readiness.
• Develop a career pathway model that connects recruitment, training, credentialing, hands-on experience, employment, and ongoing professional development.
• Build and manage the program model for prenatal, birth, postpartum, infant, and toddler milestone support.
• Ensure the programs are culturally responsive, community-based, and aligned with family needs.

Performance and KPI Management

• Own performance against Healthy Beginnings KPIs, including:
  • Number of new families enrolled.
  • Percent of families retained through key milestones in the first 1,000 days.
  • Percent of cases meeting milestone service plan goals.
  • Percent of healthy births among participants.
  • Percent of enrolled families who are active.
  • Number of Community Doulas trained.
  • Number of Community Doulas able to bill Medicaid.
  • Employment and Career Placement Rate
  • Number of qualified graduates who enter the BRICK Doula Network or another BRICK maternal health workforce opportunity
• Review program data regularly and lead performance improvement plans.
• Ensure the team uses data to identify gaps, improve services, and increase family engagement.
• Report progress to senior leadership, funders, partners, and community stakeholders.

Team Leadership

• Build a high-performing, accountable, and mission-aligned team.
• Set clear expectations, provide coaching, and hold staff accountable for outcomes.
• Ensure staff are trained on service plans, family engagement, documentation, compliance, and milestone tracking.

Partnership and Systems Building

• Build strong partnerships with healthcare providers, hospitals, clinics, Medicaid partners, community-based organizations, and public agencies.
• Lead strategy for Medicaid billing readiness and sustainability.
• Ensure Community Doulas are supported in meeting training, certification, and billing requirements.
• Represent Healthy Beginnings in external meetings and community forums.

Quality, Compliance, and Sustainability

• Ensure program practices meet quality, privacy, compliance, and documentation standards.
• Lead budget planning and resource allocation for the initiative.
• Support fundraising, grant reporting, and sustainability planning.
• Ensure families receive coordinated support across health, housing, food access, and other social needs where applicable.

Success in this role will be measured by:

• Growth in new family enrollment.
• Strong family retention through prenatal, birth, postpartum, infant, and toddler milestones.
• At least 75% completion of assigned milestone service plan actions across active cases.
• Improved healthy birth outcomes among participants.
• High percentage of enrolled families meeting the active participation definition.
• Increased number of trained Community Doulas.
• Increased number of Community Doulas eligible to bill Medicaid.

• Must be available and willing to work evenings and weekends as needed to support organizational and programmatic requirements.
• Significant leadership experience in maternal health, early childhood, public health, community health, family support, or related fields.
• Experience managing teams, budgets, partnerships, and performance goals.
• Strong understanding of the first 1,000 days, maternal and infant health, birth equity, and community-based care.
• Experience with Medicaid, healthcare partnerships, doula programs, or value-based care preferred.
• Strong data analysis and performance management skills.
• Excellent communication, partnership-building, and team leadership skills.
• Commitment to racial equity, family voice, and community-centered solutions.
