Varda also has offices in Washington, DC and Huntsville, AL.Join Varda, and work to create a bustling in-space ecosystem.About This RoleVarda Space Industries is looking for aConstruction ProjectEngineerto supportour expanding facilities and operationson Earth. This role willbe responsible foroverseeingand executingthe design, buildout, and bring-up of infrastructure, facility improvements, and large capital projectsat Varda’s current and future sites.You will work closely withinternalteams–includingfacilities, engineering, production,finance,EHS,supply chain, andsite reliabilityengineering –as well as numerous external contractorsandmunicipal and regulatory agencies,toexecuteall phases of construction projects from design through closeout.ResponsibilitiesOverseeand executethe entire lifecycle of multidisciplinary construction projects, from scope development through closeoutSupport development ofproject scope, budgets,schedulesand resources in coordination with internalstakeholders, general and sub-contractors, vendors, and other external stakeholdersCollect and evaluate competitive proposals from architects, engineers, vendors, consultants, and contractors, making selections based on quality,complianceand valueWrite and managecontracts with architects, engineers,vendors,consultants, and contractors across multiple disciplinesSupportdesign reviews to ensure alignment with municipal and regulatory standards/codes, coordinating with architectural & engineering (A&E) contractors on design deliverablesFacilitate expedient approvals from municipal, county, and regulatory agencies on applicable project aspects, including permitting and inspectionsMonitor andexpeditematerialprocurements toensureconformitywith project schedulesMaintain an active presence in the field through consistent site visits and inspections, as well as communication witharchitects, engineers,vendors,consultants, and contractorsPromptly resolve design and construction discrepancies in the field with applicable stakeholdersEnsure project milestones are completed within acceptable scheduling and budgetary parameters, optimizing for speed without sacrificing quality or scopeCommunicate project updates and risks to Varda leadership and stakeholders on a regular, frequent basisEnsure safety and environmental compliance at construction project sites in coordination with contractors, EHS, and other applicable stakeholdersReview and approve contractor invoices, progress payment requests, and change order proposals,ensuringaccuracy and adherence to contract termsand negotiating asappropriateMaintain organizedprojectdocumentation,including designs andspecifications,proposals, contracts,permitsandrelatedsubmittals,RFIs,invoices,change orders, and closeout documentsLead coordination with end-userstakeholdersand facilities teams to ensure operational alignment and a smooth handofffor ongoing building operationsand maintenanceManage tools, documentation, data,processesand systems related to construction projectsSupport real estate planning, space allocation, and other facilities-related initiatives as neededBasic QualificationsBachelor’s degree inarchitecture,engineering, orconstruction management2+ years of professional experience inarchitecture,engineering,or construction managementFamiliarity with electrical, mechanical, architectural, and structural engineering principlesAbility to manage priorities and multiple projects simultaneously, and take onadditionalresponsibilities as neededAbility to articulate technical and non-technicalmaterialclearly to various personnelPreferredQualificationsMaster's degree in a related field (e.g., Construction or Engineering Management)Project Management Professional (PMP), Planning & Scheduling Professional (PSP), or equivalent certificationExperience with Revit, AutoCAD,and/orSmartsheetExperience with infrastructure projects in aerospace, manufacturing, cleanroom, and/or pharmaceutical or biotech lab environmentsPay RangeSalary range: $101,000 to $155,000This role ison-sitein El Segundo, CALeveling and salary is determined by job-related skills, education level, experience level, and job performanceBenefitsConsider your benefits covered for launch.At Varda, we invest in benefits andperksthat support your health, financial well-being, and life beyond work.
