Engineer 1– Gas Distribution

Location: Naperville, IL

Contract- 3 Years

Client- Nicor Gas.

Job Summary:

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Engineer to support gas distribution system projects, including designs for new business, DOT compliance, relocations, pressure improvement, and renewals. The engineer will also be involved in project tracking, meter/regulator sizing, and support for construction and operations teams.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design and develop solutions for DOT compliance, system renewals, relocations, and new business

• Perform meter and regulator set sizing and design, including overpressure protection

• Evaluate system records for uprating procedures

• Recommend design options to improve system reliability and performance

• Provide technical support to field operations and construction teams

• Develop work orders including:

  • Drafting and layout

  • Reviewing land rights

  • Applying company specifications to meet federal codes and standards

• Manage design projects by tracking:

  • Permit status

  • Approval processes

  • Construction progress

Candidate Expectations:

• Must be punctual and available during core work hours

• Adhere to hybrid work schedule:

  • Monday–Thursday: In-office

  • Friday: Remote (WFH)

• Willing to travel to project or construction sites as needed

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering from an ABET-accredited institution (Required)

• 0–2 years of experience in civil or utility design (Preferred)

• Familiarity with AutoCAD or AutoCAD Civil 3D (Preferred)
