Medical Office Assistant / Patient Service Representative

Location: Annapolis, MD (On-site)

Pay: $21–$23/hour (flexible based on experience)

Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM (30-minute break)

Type: Contract with potential of conversion

Overview

We are looking for a professional and customer-focused Medical Office Assistant to join a busy specialty physician practice. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working directly with patients, thrives in a fast-paced healthcare environment, and is looking to build a long-term career in healthcare administration.

This is a highly visible, patient-facing role where strong communication skills and attention to detail are critical to success.

Key Responsibilities

• Schedule patient appointments and manage provider calendars
• Answer high-volume inbound calls and assist with patient inquiries
• Greet and check in patients, providing a positive and professional experience
• Verify insurance information and collect required documentation
• Maintain accurate patient records within the EMR system
• Collaborate with providers and clinical staff to support daily operations
• Ensure compliance with office procedures and patient confidentiality standards

Required Qualifications

• 1–2+ years of experience in a healthcare administrative or front desk role
  • Examples: medical receptionist, scheduler, patient access, medical secretary
• EPIC EMR experience is required
• Strong customer service and communication skills
• Excellent phone etiquette and professionalism
• Strong computer skills and attention to detail
• Experience in a specialty medical practice preferred
• Reliable attendance and strong work ethic

Preferred Qualifications

• Pediatrics or specialty clinic experience
• Medical Assistant (MA) background with front office experience
• Experience with insurance verification and patient intake
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office

Work Environment

• Specialty physician practice setting (vascular surgery and related specialties)
• Fast-paced, team-oriented environment
• Frequent interaction with providers and patients
• Occasional travel to a nearby clinic may be required (1–2 times per month)

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Annapolis, MD.

The pay range for this position is $21.00 - $23.00/hr.
