Works from blueprints and sketches to create or modify tools, dies, jigs and molds. Requires a high school diploma or its equivalent. May be required to complete an apprenticeship and/or formal training in area of specialty with 0-2 years of experience in the field or in a related area. Has knowledge of commonly-used concepts, practices, and procedures within a particular field. Relies on instructions and pre-established guidelines to perform the functions of the job. Works under immediate supervision. Primary job functions do not typically require exercising independent judgment. Typically reports to a supervisor or manager.Duties & Responsibilities Information:Produces new tooling to print specifications as well as repair existing toolingServices and repairs notching, single hit and progressive diesServices tooling throughout plantExercise good housekeeping in work areaObserve good safety practicesPerforms other job duties as assigned by Supervisor or Team LeaderNecessary Skills:Read micrometer, venires, indicators, and have a working knowledge of trigonometryUnderstand simple and complex drawings and interpret geometric tolerancesExperience with manual and CNC lathes, mills, grinders, MIG & TIG welding.Proficient in Imperial and Metric measurementsAbility to work from engineering sketches and/or examples to fabricate tooling and fixturingAdditional Job DetailsEducation & Experience Information:High School Diploma / GED RequiredTrade/Technical School PreferredMinimum 3 – 5 years hands on experience as a machinistEqual Employment Opportunity and Affirmative Action at Nidec Nidec is an Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) and Affirmative Action Employer encouraging diversity in the workplace.
